❝Regarding relationships, I have one rule: Give me the truth, however cold or cruel, or hard it is to hear. I would prefer to have my heat bled and broken if it means I can then move on, than waste a single moment of my time being fooled by a lie intended to preserve my feelings.

We finally arrived at Mc Donalds, my eyes did a quick scan at those that were inside. It was quite busy. Andrei walked ahead of me, opening the door for himself. Expecting him to keep the door opened for me as I walked in, I decide to walk in without holding the door.

The door hits me.

I guess the chivalry is dead.

"Ow," I mumbled, rubbing my arm that made contact with the door. That will leave a bruise. I looked up at Andrei, expecting him to notice what just happened and perhaps apologise for the door closing so quickly.

He continued to walk ahead of me and stood in the queue. He finally notices me rubbing my arm, his brows lift upwards as if asking me if I was okay. "You good?" he asked, eyes motioning towards my hand wiping my upper arm.

"I'm great," I replied in a sarcastic tone. As if he was satisfied with my answer, his focus was back on overlooking the menu above. I rolled my eyes at his oblivious nature and inability to sense my tone.

"What do you want to order?" he asked, eyes not leaving the menu. "I'll order for us, while you look for a seat."

"I'll have a Big Mac with some fries," I replied. He slightly nods, indicating that I can go find us a seat now.  I turned towards the main seating area, it was really packed. It was just a little past lunch hour but there still a lot of people here. I finally found a spare table near the back of the seating area, it was right beside the entrance of the toilets. Great.

I hope you like the smell of the toilets with your food, Andrei.

I quickly rushed over to claim the table before anyone else could. Once seated, I grabbed my phone out and connected to the free wifi. I opened up Facebook and scrolled through my newsfeed. My newsfeed was my main source for news updates, I followed a lot of news pages. Ever since my father went 'missing'. Whether that be him going missing voluntarily or someone forcing him against his will. Following these news outlets kept me sane because it allowed me to feel at ease on any breaking news reports on missing persons.

Thinking about missing father and my family situation suddenly made me feel homesick. Family sick. Whatever you call it. I opened up my gallery app on my phone and started looking through pictures of my family. After scrolling through a couple of pictures, I found one of my favourites.

My favourite was a picture taken recently. Just before the occurrence of the break-in, before everything fell apart and had to be pieced back together again. It was an early Christmas vacation. We went rented a lodge and went skiing, well attempted to ski. Even though half the time, both my parents and I were on the ground rather than actually standing upright and skiing, it was still fun.
