He looked quite serious when he said that. At first, I thought he was mocking me when he said he wanted to make a list of roommate rules. After the whole incident of Andrei walking in on me in the bathroom this morning... I wanted these rules more than ever before. What happened this morning is exactly why my mother didn't want me to share an apartment with Mason. Even though Mason and I were just friends and nothing would ever happen like that. Little does she know that I was sharing a dorm room with a complete stranger that is the opposite sex.
She would be furious if she ever finds out.
"You're serious about making a list of rules?" I asked, searching for a look of jokiness in his expression. Maybe he was just trying to further tease from this morning. This whole situation of starting University, moving onto campus, being placed in the wrong dorm room was already too much to take in. Adding the situation this morning into the mix almost pushed me to a breaking point. I had to keep my emotions intact or else I'll be that roommate that had a mental breakdown in the first few days of moving in.
"Yeah. If that'll make this living situation easier for you," he said, looking straight into my eyes. I could see that he was sincere with his words, he really was trying to make this living situation easier for both of us.
"Thanks. I really think a set of rules will make me feel at ease," I lamely mumbled. I turned away from his stare, I could still feel his eyes remain on my face. I tried to busy myself by finding a notepad and a pen to write the set of rules on. I got off my bed and grabbed the blue notepad and pen that was on my drawer. I placed the notepad on my bed, getting ready to write the rules out.
Once settled, I looked up at Andrei who was still awkwardly standing at the end of my bed. "Come here and sit," I told him, gesturing him to come forward and patted down on the area of the bed in front of me. He slowly walked around my bed before softly placing himself on my bed. I felt the bed dip with Andrei's weight. I pushed myself back a bit to create more space between us.
"Okay, I do not want a repeat of what happened this morning. So, let's make a rule for that first," I said. I clicked the pen, getting ready to write the first rule. "First of all, it's stupid that there isn't a lock on that door."
I looked at Andrei, waiting to see how he felt about the no lock situation. This was a mixed dorm and there wasn't a lock. I don't know what the school was thinking. There was no privacy whatsoever. His expression didn't change much, it looked like he didn't give two shits about not having a lock.
