He was making his way up stairs when he turned to me "you forgot didn't you"

I looked at him clearly confused.

"It's our day out, get ready!"

Chapter 5 🥀

"So you see, the formation 4-3-3 is probably the best cause..."

"Mhmm, mhmm" I nodded, pretending to be interested in what Ash was saying.

He was driving us to our favourite park for a picnic as he blabbed on about something football related or whatever. And me having short attention span wasn't helping. I zoned out from the beginning of his talk.

I turned around to look at Ash and he had kept quiet, probably noticed I wasn't listening and stopped talking. I was glad.

He concentrated so much on the road that you could see creases on his forehead. His blue eyes has this glow that shows his liveliness and always happy mood. His lips was perfectly in a smile.

Perfect. Everything about him was perfect. His eyes, the way his nose was crooked, his pink lips his jaw his...

"A penny for your thoughts?" Ash smiled and turned my side.

I blushed and looked away, he caught me staring.

"I like the way you smile," he laughed "it's cute."

I blushed even harder if that was possibile and he just laughed even harder.

Gosh I hate him right now for making me uncomfortable.

"Cupcake I know I'm handsome but you shouldn't have stared."

Was blushing this hard even possible? I was beet red!!

"Just drive." I mubled and stared out of the window, watching as we drove past trees and houses.

Every twelfth of June, a day after Ariel's birthday, Ash and I have an outing. It symbolises our friendship and how we met.

We met ten years back in the Midway park...

FLASH BACK [Midway Pack]

"Mummy, mummy I wanna play by the swings." Five year old me pouted.

"Okay sweetie, but Tyler will go with you." Mum stated "and you have to be back soon, we're going to be having tea and cake for the afternoon picnic. Okay."

I nodded eagerly. I love cake and tea.

Tyler got up and held my hand. We were about to go to the swings when Dad called Tyler.

"Be careful and don't let anything hurt your little sister." He warned.

Tyler nodded "Okay, I promise."

We were walking to the swing side when Tyler had an idea. "Let's race to the swing." He grinned.

"Last one is a rotten egg!!" I yelled and started running.I started laughing because I had ha headstart before Tyler and I was leading. Then he came and overtook me.

I frowned and tried to catch up with him. The wind slapping my face. I wasn't seeing where I was going. And the path was stoney.

My shoe laces were untied but I didn't care, I was trying to catch up to Tyler.

And then I hit a stone. I didn't see it. Because of the way I hit the stone in full speed, I had a great impact. My knees sprained, I tumbled and fell. It hurt so much.

"Tyler!" I cried "My knee." I started sobbing as I sat up, holding my knee.

Tyler rushed to me and panicked, "I'll go call Mom and Dad." He whispered and sped off.

People were gathering.  I hated it. I hated being centre of attention.

From my blurred vision, I could see a small boy with blue eyes and silky brown hair probably the same age as me. He was cute.

He crouched down and looked me in the eye. "Are you okay?Where does it hurt?"

I pointed my knee and sniffed.

He picked me up and took him to his parents.

His parents quickly took out their first aid box and cleansed the wound then they closed it up with a pretty princess band aid.

"My name is Asher, and you?" The cute boy asked.

"Ashley" I grinned "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too Ashley."

And we had picnic together. I forgot to go back to mom and dad and Tyler.

Asher's parents were very nice and I liked their company.

Meanwhile, Tyler was being scolded for leaving me there and mom worriedly asking people around for where I was.

And then they found me. It turned out that my mom knows Tyler's mom from school and it was like a reunion. We had tea and cake together and from that day henceforth, Asher and I kept going to the park on our friendship anniversary.

That day marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

END OF FLASH BACK

I was smiling from ear to ear when we reached Midway Park.

We came down the car, walking along the stoney path 'this was where I fell' I remembered 'and where I met Asher. The best day of my life '

Asher had the picnic basket as we walked to find our usual spot up a small hill right beside the swings. It was sunny and the sky was beautiful.

Asher laid down the mat and I sat down taking in the scenery.

Kids ran around playing, couples sat on benches, some people were walking with their dogs. Everywhere was peaceful and calm

This park will forever be my favourite place.

"Now what are you thinking of?" Asher asked, setting the small picnic up.

"How this is the my favorite place." I turned to him and smiled, "You know why?"

"Cause they have the best swings?"

I laughed, "No, cause I met you here." I smiled.

He smiled back.

We fell into silence.

"So tell me about you and Kim?"

His face lit up with the most beautiful smile upon hearing the name of his girlfriend.

My mood dropped knowing I wasnt the reason for the smile. But I covered it up with a fake smile as he told me how they have been.

Let's just say I regret asking.
