"No reason."
We ended up talking about topics I can't quite remember. He left around 8:30pm saying he has a date with Kim by 9:00pm.
I was dissapointed but I didn't say anything. God Ash, will you ever love me?
Chapter 11 🥀
"Woah woah wait, did you really do that?" I laughed really hard, clutching my stomach.
"Well yes, I was only six then and I didn't know." Jason answered on the other end of the phone. He was also laughing.
"Oh my God." I chuckled.
Right now, I was on a phone call with Jason playing 21games. I asked him the most embarrassing thing he has ever done and he told me a story of the time he shared tampons (pads) among his classmates thinking it was candy because of the shiny pack. His parents had to get a call from the school authority asking why their five year old kid was sharing tampons.
"Okay, next question." He said "What do you fear the most?"
I thought about it for a while. "I know most girls will start being like they fear insects and bugs and whatnot but," I paused "I fear Oblivion."
"Oblivion?"
"Yes, Oblivion. The state of being completely forgotten after you die. The people that know you will die, and the people that may have heard of you will also die leaving no one in the world to remember you. And slowly, the whole human species will be extinct and they'll be no one left on earth to remember. To remember, that there was once a time when Homosapiens lived."
There was silence on the other line.
After a few seconds, "Wow." Jason breathed. "That's... Unexpected and very true."
"Yeah." I chuckled. "What of you?"
"Well they say men don't have fears and they have to be strong and all that bullshit but I actually have two fears. One, the fear of losing a loved one and two, falling in love with a wrong person." Jason continued, "Losing a loved one though happened to me once when I lost my mother to breast cancer sick years ago." His voice broke.
"I'm so sorry." My heart hurt for him.
"It's okay, it's been a while now. That incident though took a toll in me and my Dad emotionally. Although he never said and tried to hide it, from one look on my father's eyes and you'll know he was hurting." He paused, "He tried to act strong with me. He has a business empire to run and he was emotionally draining, his son's case was even worst. He had to hand over the company to a trusted friend for almost a year, before we got back to normal or...better."
"I was only ten then and I didn't know mom had cancer. Not until her final hours in this world. I always know mom was sick though, but I wasn't observant enough to see just how ill she was. She became more and more frail everyday, her hair kept falling everyday, she stopped going to work but I didn't know that it was cancer." His voice was seriously shaking and I wanted nothing but to go over to him and give him a hug and a shoulder to cry on. Although I don't know how it feels like to lose a parent, I knew it was hard.
"Jase, you don't have to continu-"
"No, I need to say that out. I never got to say it out to anyone." He assured, "It's just...kinda hard and alot to say. What are you doing right now?"
"Well apart from talking to you, I'm sitting on my bed crossed legged doing absolutely nothing. Why?"
"I was wondering if I could come over or..."
"Or you could text me your home address and I would be on my way."
"I would love that but won't I be of burden?"
