"Ashley I need you at my house ASAP...please." Summer's voice was shaking, she was visibly crying and I couldn't help but feel something was wrong.

I gulped, "On my way Summer. Sit down and don't do anything stupid."

With that, I cut the call and raced to my car.

Chapter 15 🥀

Jason's POV...

"Get someone or I'm hooking you up with that Midnight girl."

Those were the last words from my Dad over the phone and I kept repeating it in my head. I don't want to hook up with a random girl, but I don't have a choice unless I get someone.

I sighed, Dad wants me to get married soon, who does that these days? It's freaking 21st century.

I sighed, taking another shot of Tequila, letting the liquid burn down my throat.

What's her name again? Was it Autumn Midnight or whatever. She happens to be the daughter of my Dad's friend and we are automatically getting married if I dont find a spouse for myself.

"The company, you need to do it for the company or it will be someone else's" my subconscious reminded me.

But I don't care about the company.

"Yeahh but your dying Dad wants you to take over it."

Fuck but I care about my old man.

I sighed again, finishing off my Tequila and deciding to go take a cold shower, it always helps clear my mind.

Ashley's POV...

I drove into the Midnight residence and stepped out of the car.

Mrs. Midnights, Summer's mother, met me by the door.

She was this stereotypical rich mom with shiny blond hair cut in a short Bob, expensive clothes and jewelries, and Rebox product skin.

"Oh Dur-ling, haven't seen you in years." She gushed in a fake high tone as she made an effort to hug me, but I was stiff as board.

"Good day Mrs. Midnight, I was just hear to see Summer." I gave her a fake smile as I tried to maneuver around her to make to Summer's room ASAP. There's something about her mom that I don't really like. Maybe the fakeness or the lack of motherliness.

"Yes I think she might need all the human interaction she could get, she hasn't left her room since her father told her she was marrying that son of Maxwell, was it Jason?"

I wasn't listening to her rant, not really interesting as I hurried to Summer's room. But when she said Jason, I stopped for a while. The same Jason probably? No, I shook my head, there are many other Jason's in the world.

Bursting through her door, I was met with a tear-faced Summer, surrounded with tissue paper.

I felt a sickening feeling at the pit of my stomach.

Sensing my presence, Summer got off her bed and ran to hug me. I hugged a close and we stayed like that for a while. No tears came, she probably cried them all out.

I led her to her bed and we lay there beside each other, with a comfortable silence lingering above us, no one talking.

Seconds passed and I wanted to know what happened, I was always known for my high level of curiosity.

"Summer what happened?"

She let out a heart felt sigh and turned to look at me, "My Dad is still Keen on marrying me out. He spoke with his father and they have agreed. If the man I'm marrying doesn't come with another girl by the end of this month, I will be married off to him." Her eyes were moist and her voice broken, "Ashely I need your help out of this mess."

"I'm so sorry Summer but I don't think I can help. I'll be there for, you, yes but I don't see how else I can help you."

"You need to help me, please!" She rose up her bed, the tears threatening to fall "I need your help. You're my only hope."

I stared at her confused, what is she talking about? "okay, what can I do to help?"

She had a faint smile, after my words. "You should marry him instead."

I almost choked on air.

"What the hell do you mean?"

"Come on, I'm sure you know what I mean. Wait, do you know who I'm getting supposedly married to?"

I shook my head, no.

Summer staired at me wide eyed, "No one told you?"

"No one told me what?"

"No one told you that 'him', the person Dad wants me to marry,  was actually Jason?"
