But she was always intrigued and interested whenever I bring up Jason.

Then an idea popped in my head. I smirked, time to play Cupid.

Chapter 7 🥀

Back to Ashley's POV...

"You won't believe what happened a few days ago." Was Summer's first words when I showed up in their house.

She earlier called me for an emergency sleepover and I came as soon as possible. She didn't even say hi when I knocked on their door, she just dragged me up her room, locked her door and said 'You won't believe what happened'

I made my self comfortable on her bed and patted the space beside me urging for her to seat first.

After she did settle down, I turned to look at her, "Okay what happened?"

She sighed, she looked a bit tired. She picked a pillow and hugged it. "Well, that blessed day I left you to meet my Dad and have a family dinner didn't go well for me."

I nodded, signalling her to continue.

"I was joyfully eating my Chicken Wings when Father told me he had great news for me. I thought he was going to be like, hey I got you tickets to Disneyland or a trip to Hawaii or I dunno." She shrugged, "Then he told me about this business partner of his who apparently has a son that so happens to be a year older than me but was so smart he has already finished university. And that so called son of my father's business partner was looking for a spouse. And my dear father oh happily agreed to give my hands in marriage with the condition of merging their companies together. They both agreed before telling me. Can you believe that?Even mom Knew." Now she was holding back tears, her eyes were glassy.

"But that's not the worst part. The worst part is the fact that My dear beloved Daddy agreed to use his daughter for negotiations. I mean how sick is that? Does he only sees me as an asset he can use to gain more money? How could he?"

Her voice broke at the end. She couldn't hold it anymore, tears started flooding down her eyes.

"Oh summer." I hugged her so tight as she cried on my shoulders. "Shh, it's okay. Everything is gonna be okay."

"But it's not gonna be Okay!" She yelled between sobs "It won't be."

I spent the next hour giving her a shoulder to cry on and she cried it all out.

After she calmed down, we lay down silently. "What will happen to Kyle, won't you tell them about Kyle?"

She shook her head. "I don't know what will happen to us but Dad has this idea of me marrying from a rich family who owns their own company."

I nodded, Kyle's family aren't actually rich. His Dad works in a bank and his mother is an elementary school teacher.

"But your father married your mother from a not so wealthy family. I mean, she was a farmers daughter."

"Yes, but he says things are different now." She sighs, "And he made it clear to me that I couldn't marry someone that isn't filthy rich."

"I'm so sorry."

It was all I could say.

She had a sad smile, "Everything will be just fine."

I do hope so.

"But, we aren't gonna end this night in a gloomy state. We are gonna watch something and eat lots of ice cream and Skittles." I ordered.

"Yeah, I like that idea."

I quickly went to their kitchen fridge and got two large tubs of Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream.

I brought a huge pack of Skittles on my way. Grabbing a bowl, I quickly dumped a pack of popcorn and added butter. Then went back upstairs to her room.
