Heart Broken

Morning light

As morning came Aragorn woke up to giggling coming from the hallway and sat up listening. "Uncle Legolas again again." Standing Aragorn got ready as heard a peal of high laughter come from his daughter. Opening his door he saw Legolas with Angel on his shoulders running swiftly down the hall and even jumping wall to wall.

"Be carful Mellonin" Aragorn said softly with a chuckle. Both heads turned towards him and Legolas smiled. "Sorry did we wake you" Arsgorn shook his head and opened his arms as his daughter came running at him full speed. "Daddy I'm hungry" Aragorn nodded chuckling. "Alright then princess let's get you something to fill that belly of yours then we can go play out side." Angel smiled happily "Can we go to the garden?" Aragorn nodded knowing Angel and Legolas would both enjoy time in the garden. "Yes but food first"

They walked into the dining room and Arsgorn set Angel down then sat in his own seat and watched as Legolas sit down as well. They ate breakfast in silence but it was comfortable. Legolas finally spoke up "I cant eant to work on that garden some more." Aragorn chuckled looking down the long table and meeting Legolas's eyes "I figured as much" Angel started to get restless wiggling in her chair. "I'm done eating daddy and uncle Legolas can we go now."

Both men chuckled and Legolas quickly helped Angel out of her chair. "Let's go come one" they both took off running out of the room as Aragorn laughed pushing himself out of his chair and fallowing slowly behind them watching them closely. It made him happy that Legolas and Angel got along so well. Arriving at the gardens Aragotn sat down under a tree as Legolas and Angel ran around collecting some flowers and making chains.

Their fun was interrupted when a servant walked in holding a letter. "King Aragorn there is word from Rivendell for you." Aragorn stood smiling and grabbed the letter looking it over then frowned. "Mellonin what's wrong." Legolas's voice came softly next to Aragorn. Aragorn looked up "It seems Rivendell has been getting attacked. Elrond is calling for backup." Legolas nodded "Well then let's go help" Aragorn nodded handing the letter back to the servant. "Ready the horses we ride in an hour."

Angel frowned crossing her arms as her father picked her up. "Your leaving again" she said in a heart broken tone and it hurt Aragorn to see the look of hurt cross his daughter's face. "I have to your grandfather needs help" Angel looked up and smiled "Can I come" Aragorn shook his head lightly "No sweetheart you cant but I will bring you back something from the trip" This seemed to please Angel for the moment but Aragorn could feel the please building up behind her eyes.

Leaving Angel with the nanny Aragorn hurried to his room and started to pack his traveling bag and grab his armor. A servant walked in to help him get into his armor but a voice came from the door stopping the process. "Why dont you go pack up some food for the trip I'll help the king into his armor." Aragorn looked at Legolas as he stepped closer and helped him into his armor. "You didnt have to" Aragorn said softly but Legolas shook his head "I just wanted a few minutes with you before we are surrounded by soldiers." Aragorn chuckled lightly and smiled when his armor was fully on. Legolas looked him over and smiled. "You look very handsome in your armor looking like a king but I think I still slightly like the way you look as strider better."

Aragorn felt his cheeks heat red and before he could respond a soldier walked in. "We are ready to go sir everything is set." Aragorn nodded "Thank you we will be right there." Straightening up a bit Aragorn grabbed his bag and frowned. "We have to go say our farewells to Angel" Theyvmade their way down the hall and Aragorn kept feeling this over wellming feeling of dread build in his chest and jumped when Legolas spoke softly into his ear. "Aragorn I can feel that energy rolling off of you it's making me truthfully feel uneasy are you alright." Aragorn sighed "Just something doesnt feel right I dont know." This made Legolas stop in his tracks and grab Aragorn's arm. "I have always trusted your gut feeling Aragorn, what do you think is wrong" Aragorn shrugged not really knowing what to say.

"Maybe it's just the thought of leaving Angel that has me feeling this way." Legolas nodded but seemed a bit bothered now. As they made it to Angel's room they could hear the little girl raising her voice at the nanny and they both snuck glances at eachother then opened the door softly. Angel was standing on her bed glaring at the nanny. "I want my daddy!" Aragorn walked in and gave Angel a stern look. "Angel no yelling at your nanny" Angel's head turned quickly seeing her daddy standing there in his armor. "Daddy you look like my toy king" Angel gushed running and picking up the toy holding it out. Aragorn nodded his head "I have to go do kingly duties  Angel I will be back soon though." Angel frowned then looked at Legolas seeing him in his traveling clothes as well. "I'm going to miss you" she said softly giving her father a hug and kiss then walked to Legolas. "Keep daddy safe uncle Legolas" Legolas smiled bending down. "Of course I will " Angel nodded picking up a flower pin handing it to Legolas "good luck charm for you uncle Legolas" looking around she picked up her princess figuring handing it to her father. "Heres yours daddy" Aragorn grabbed the figuring and nodded his head "I love you princess we will back before you know it." At that both men stood and walked out of the room looking at the little tokens of luck Angel had given them.

Atagorn sighed getting on his horse and looking back at the castle. "I hate this" he muttered softly and Legolas looked at him sadly instantly knowing what Aragorn was speaking of. Aragorn had missed the beginning of his daughter's life due to war now they had to leave again and didnt know how long they would be gone. "It will all be okay Mellonin" Legolas whispered softly and Aragorn looked at him nodding. Turning around Aragorn spoke to his men and then they headed out riding for Rivendell.
