"The virus is spreading!! We cannot wait for help to come. We have to act now!"

I sat on an uncomfortable wooden chair next to Dess, and looked around. There were about 20 people sat around a long table, with the head of the Agency, Elyjah Nicholas at the head of it.

"Sandra, you don't understand, help has come," answered Elyjah. "And she's sitting right over there!"

Heads turned and everyone stared at Dess. She turned bright red, shrinking down into her chair and staring at her lap.

Sandra, head of computer technology at the agency, stared at Dess.

"So you have the gift?" She inquired.

"Y- I... yes..." stammered Dess.

"And you aren't rogue?!" Questioned Matt Belle, head of weaponry.

Dess's head jerked up, and she slammed her knee into the bottom of the table. Rubbing it vigorously, she asked, shocked:

"Rogue?"

"Yes," answered Elyjah. "The virus is mutating. The people with the virus are becoming..." he hesitated, trying to think of a word to use. "...animal. They howl. They attack. They destroy. Plus, now that they have powers, they are very hard to kill."

Dess thought for a moment. "Is there any way to shut down the virus?" She asked.

"That's what we've been working on." Answered Sandra. "Our science team has been spending countless hours studying these... creatures, and trying to find what makes them like this."

Elyjah leaned back, gazing uncomfortably at Dess, and then me.

"This is why we've called you here." He began. He hesitated, as if he had been dreading saying this. "We... need you to go out and find these things. We need close up information on these... I don't know what's... and because Dess has the powers... but is pure..." he stopped, looking at me, knowing I knew the end of the sentence.

"You want us to go out and go face to face with these things?" I asked, shocked. "I just got Dess out of an insane asylum. She is hardly in any state to fight! And besides, she's barely mastered her-"

"I'll do it."

I whipped around to stare at Dess. She was staring at her hands. But I saw a look of determination on her face.

"Dess!" I shrieked. "You haven't had any training! You haven't ever held a weapon!"

"I know, but..." she hesitated. "Where are these things?" She asked. "Like, what part of the world are they currently hiding in?"

Elyjah cringed, and then pressed a button. A holographic map of the earth popped up. There were thousands of red dots in every part of the earth.

"They're everywhere."
