Chapter 9
The wedding was ten times more enjoyable now that everything was resolved between Brendon and me. Brendon led me back to the dance floor and we enjoyed a little time before the entire group came over, hands on hips, waiting for an answer.
"H-hey guys, what's up?" I asked tentatively.
"I thought you and this asshole were through," Duncan said, stepping forward.
"Duncan, back off, remember what Haley said, no fighting."
"That's still not an explanation of why he's with you."
"Because I took him back, we had a talk. Brendon, this is Duncan, Chase, Riley, and Jenna. Also Elizabeth is probably somewhere following Haley around granting her every wish."
"You took him back?" Jenna said angrily, "I thought that we'd settled on the fact that he's an insensitive ass that you didn't want to see ever again."
"Um, yeah, hi, I'm right here," Brendon said awkwardly.
"You think I give a fuck? You broke my best friend's heart, lucky you I'm don't have any alcohol in my system or you wouldn't have a face," oh God, Jenna was beyond angry.
"Um, Brendon, you might want to go find Spencer or something. I need to talk to them," I said and he walked off. I was led back to our table and told them all the shortened version of what had just happened, excluding being dragged off and not let go.
"Personally I think if she trusts him enough to give him a second chance so be it, it's her fault if she gets hurt again," Chase said.
"I agree with Chase," Riley smiled.
"I want you to be happy, I really do, Faith, but I don't trust him anymore. I feel like this is one of those suspicious little things, I mean, would he have come to find you if you hadn't been here?" Jenna sighed.
"I don't know if he would, but I'm here, he talked to me, isn't that what matters?"
"Can you at least bring him over so we can talk to him, alone?" Duncan asked. I sighed and went to give him the message that his presence had been requested by the group. He left slowly and I looked around the room to find someone. I found Elizabeth hanging out with some of the bridesmaids but she wasn't joining in the conversation at all.
"Oh thank God!" she said as I approached, "I'm not allowed to leave the table, here, sit, stay, talk."
"Wow, why can't you leave? Everyone else is dancing..."
"Sister says that as a bridesmaid and a sister I'm required to do what she says, it's her wedding and her word, as long as I'm here until she says I can go then it's all good and she won't be a crazy bitch."
"Sounds like she already is. Anyway, when are the speeches happening?"
"After this song, and you're in for a long session, Mommy, Daddy, maid of honor, best man, me, and I think a couple other guys that Spencer knows. And, since I mentioned him, isn't the best man hot? I'm thinking of asking him out and dumping Duncan."
"No, he's mine!" I blurted out.
"Excuse me? Since when did you put your name on him, huh? Maybe he likes girls like me, ever think of that?"
