A long time ago, two races ruled the earth... HUMAN and MONSTERS.
One day, war broke out between the two races, humans, fearing the monsters powers, attack viciously and without mercy, slaughtering monsters and burning down villages.
It could hardly be called a war.
The humans, only spared the monsters, sealing them underground with a magical spell Called day the BARRIER.
Monsters only found light sources years after, and had to adapt to the darkness in the meantime, therefor, monsters became a Nocturnal species. Some, though, couldn't adapt, so they came up with lighting systems after moving deeper into the caverns, using the only bioluminescence they could find, and the help of fire power, and decades later, the Core.
Years later....
The protagonist, Frisk, falls into the Underground.
So there's the storyline!
Anyways, if you play Horrortale, then you'll see that the creator kinda drew the characters, then adding the animation by inserting codes. You basically move, stop, chose an arrow leading to certain parts of the room, and talk to monsters. That seems easier than going through the whole pixel process...
