A new world

Chapter 14: New teammates

"Leo!!!" Dusk yelled before running straight at him. She tackled him to the ground in a hug
"I'm so glad you are okay," Dusk said.
"It's good to see you too," Leo said in his usual shy demeanor.
Then Alex's mom came outside to check what all the rumor was about. She smiled when she saw the tow obviously happy, kids.
"Now we can finally go do what we trained for, explore." Dusk cheered."You guys are explorers? That is so cool. I've always wanted to see more of the world," Caroline marveled.
"Me too," Alex agreed, "To be able to go out and see the world would be awesome."
"Oh, can I please come along with you," Caroline asked
"I don't see why not," Leo said.
"That should prove to be fun," Dusk agreed
This left Alex standing with a sad look on his face. He knew his mom would never allow him to go, but he felt like he had to at least try asking her.
scared for her answer he faced her," Mom since those two are professionals, Can I go with them?" He asked
To his great surprise, his mother seemed to think about this seriously.
"Alright then, if you promise to stay close to them and if they are okay with you coming, then I suppose you can go. I know this is a big dream of yours, and I think you are old enough now," his mother said. Alex was almost beyond himself in excitement. He looked expectantly at Leo Who was still pinned to the ground by dusk. Leo looked at Dusk for approval. She gave him a nod.
"You can come as well," Leo said happily.
"Hooray!!" Caroline jumped up and down in excitement.
Caroline lived alone, so she did not need to ask her parents.

They were getting ready to leave when Alex's mom came to Dusk and Leo
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" she asked. Dusk and Leo followed her curiously.
"I know it has always been Alex's dream to see more of the world, but the forests are dangerous, so I never allowed him to go there. I do think he is old enough now, but I am still asking you to take care of him, To make sure that nothing happens to him, can I trust you with that?" she asked.
"We promise to look out for his well being. We will do everything we can to make sure he stays as safe as possible," Dusk said because she knew that Leo was way too shy to answer the question and she also knew that he agreed. Leo shot her a thankful look.
"That's a relief. Then I wish the four of you good luck. And please have fun as well," the concerned mother said.

A few minutes later the four kids were on their ways. Both Caroline and Alex were excited, to say the least. The walked through the forest for the rest of the day. And by nightfall the stopped at a spot that was suitable to sleep on. They were all tired, but Leo and Dusk took the morning from Alex's mom seriously and decided to have one of them awake at all times to take guard. They would take shifts Caroline was first then Alex then Leo and Dusk would be last after they had arranged that Alex Leo and Dusk went to sleep.

Later that night, it was now Alex's turn, things went horribly wrong, however. A group of pokémon managed to sneak past Alex and got to Dusk. One of them stepped on a branch and made it snap.
"what do you think you're doing!" Alex yelled, and in doing so he woke the others up.
"Oh no, you don't." one of the attackers said before he used sleep powder.
No matter how hard they tried the dust was just too strong, and in no time at all, they were all asleep.

Alex was later woken up by Leo shouting at him.
"THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!!!" he seemed furious. And Alex only had to look around him to know why. The attackers had taken Dusk.
" I SWEAR TO ARCEUS IF IT WERN'T FOR THE PROMISE I MADE TO YOUR MOM I WOULD......I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO. BUT LET ME TELL YOU THIS IT WOULD BE BAD!!!" Leo yelled at Alex genuinely furious.
Tears welled up in Alex's eyes.
"I'm sorry. They managed to......" he sobbed. but Leo cut him off
"SHUT UP! I DON'T WANT YOUR STUPID EXCUSES!" Leo snapped
"Leo, please calm down. We all care about Dusk...." Caroline began
"Stay out of this if you know what's good for you Caroline," Leo said in an icy tone, "I am going to look for her right now. AND YOU STAY HERE! YOU'VE MESSED UP ENOUGH AS IT IS! Caroline, you make sure he does nothing stupid," Leo raged.
And without another word, he stormed into the forest. Leaving Alex in tears. Caroline tried her best to comfort her friend, but Leo had scared the living daylights out of him and on top of that he felt guilty for the whole situation, So Caroline's attempts were to no avail.
