"Liza pick up" David said to himself, on the phone. He was standing down the hall from Caroline's apartment with his phone pressed to his ear. As if she had heard his pleas, Liza answered.

"Hello?"

"Liza, I need to talk to you"

"If this is about me forgiving you-"

"It's not. Honestly, you might not speak to me after this, but I don't care. You need to hear it from me, and you need to hear it now"

Liza inhaled. "Ok"

"I'm in love with Caroline"

The line was silent.

"It's only fair that I told you that. I told Caroline and it would be unfair for me to not be honest to you. I'm literally outside of her apartment, I told her about 2 minutes ago"

"Ok" Liza said. "I respect that a lot, thank you"

"Are you ok?"

"Yeah but... nevermind"

"No, Liza, talk to me"

"What if you hurt her again?"

Now it was David's turn to be silent.

"I won't"

"I hope you're right"

Liza ended the call. David looked at the blank screen before putting it in his pocket and walking back into Caroline's apartment. She was laying on the couch in a position that looked uncomfortable. It was as if she had simply flopped over after David left.

"Sam?" Caroline asked.

"No" David responded.

Caroline didn't move as David sat next to her.

"I told you I'm not leaving you again" He reiterated.

"Where'd you go?" Caroline asked, nearly in a whisper.

"Well..." David started. "I called Liza and told her I have feelings for you"

Caroline looked over at David.

"You what?"

"I told her"

Caroline was no longer crying, but still had makeup smeared all over her face.

"Obviously I don't know if you'll take me back, but it's still the truth. The bullshit ends tonight"

He pulled Caroline into a tight embrace, kissing the top of her head.

"I'm not going anywhere. I can't make you believe me, and I can't make you let me stay, but I can beg you to let me prove it to you"

Caroline was quiet for a while.

"Ok" She finally said. "Go ahead and prove it to me"

So he did.

Despite this music being very ending credit-y, there is one last chapter for those of you who HATE open ended endings :) I'm posting it now!
