I groan waking up the next morning to an annoyingly bright light. I shield my face as the sun shines in through the window. Guess I forgot to close the blinds. I sigh standing up and walking over and shutting them. The pitter patter of little feet sound and I look over as Josie runs into my room.
"Morning mommy!"
"Morning baby girl." I say giving her a peck on the head.
"There's pancakes downstairs. Me and grandma made them before she had to go to work."
"Ah! Well let's go eat some pancakes then." I say and she grins dragging me along behind her. We run down the stairs and I laugh as she serves me a plate with two pancakes on it.
"Thank you baby." I say as she pours syrup on them.
"Try them!" She exclaims and I laugh taking a bite.
"Mmm very very good! You said you and grandma made these?"
She nods with a grin and I smile.
"Well, they are very yummy. I'll have to get your recipe." I say and she giggles as I continue to eat.
"Oh! Baby, you want to go over to grandma's inn with me for a little bit? Decorate it for Christmas?" I ask and she lights up and nods wildly.
"Awesome! I need my little helper." I say and she giggles then runs upstairs. I finish the pancakes then clean off the plate and head up after her. I walk into my bedroom then over to my closet and pull out my clothes for the day and change. My head suddenly begins to hurt and I rub my temple as I sit down on my bed.
"Mommy?" I look up from the ground and smile at Josie.
"You ready to go baby?" I ask and she nods running over.
"Alright, let's go." I say ignoring the migraine and following her down the stairs. We put our coats on then head out to the car and hop in.
"Let's get in the Christmas mood." I say with a smile then turn on Christmas music.
"Yay!" Josie exclaims and I laugh turning it up a little more as we sing along and head toward the inn.
~~~
"Well hello!" My mom exclaims as Josie runs up to her when she opens the door.
"Hi mom. We brought some decorating supplies."
"Oh wonderful." My mom says and I smirk walking inside.
"Oh wow, it's been too long since I've been in here."
"Five years to be exact."
"Well, technically only three. Since we do Christmas with you every other year." I say and she shakes her head.
"Maybe for Christmas that's the case, but not for every other day of the year." My mom says and I look over at her then walk by. I walk into the main room and smile seeing the Christmas tree.
"The lights are on, just needs some decoration." My mother says coming in behind me.
"Well, Josie and I can do that. Can't we?" I ask my daughter and she grins nodding.
"I'm sure you two will do great! Oo, I gotta get that." My mom says as the door chimes sound.
"Alright, bye mom."
"Bye grandma." Josie says waving as my mom leaves the room.
"So, let's get to decorating." I say and Josie grins digging through decorations.
~~~~
"Oh wow, this place looks amazing." My mom says and I laugh hugging Josie.
"It's festive!" Josie exclaims and my mom laughs nodding.
"It very much is. Good job you two." She says and I smile.
"Thank you mom." I say and she nods as the door chimes go off again.
"That's my cue. Thank you both again."
"Of course mom, you're welcome." I say and she smiles then goes to welcome the new guests in.
"Mommy, I'm tired." Josie says and I look over at her.
"You okay baby?" I ask and she nods slowly.
"Okay, let's go find somewhere for you to sleep." I say and she nods as I take her hand and lead her to the front desk.
"Hey mom, do you mind if Josie crashes here while I do some Christmas shopping."
"Of course sweetie, not a problem. Come here baby." My mom says and I let Josie go to my mom.
"Thank you." I say
"You are very welcome. No rush, she'll be no problem." My mom says and I smile then leave the inn.
