I smile at the cashier then turn and leave the store. At this point my arms are stocked full with bags and boxes as I make my way into the small coffee house and bakery.
"Hello dear, how can I help you?"
"White peppermint mocha and a strawberry scone would be fantastic." I say and she smiles as I hand her the money.
"Okay, coming right up. Just take a seat, I'll bring it out." She says and I smile saying thanks as I walk over to a table and put my bags down. I hang my coat over the chair then sigh sitting down and booting up my laptop. I push my hair out of my face and start to nibble on my lip trying to think. I look up and smile as my drink is placed down beside me and the waitress smiles back then walks away. I open up a blank document on my computer and instantly writer's block hits me.
I should've known it would.
I sigh hitting the j key over and over again, trying to think. The door chimes go off and I look over as a tall guy walks in brushing snow off his coat.
"Ethan hi, your usual?"
"That would be great. Thank you Donna." He says to the waitress who had just helped me. I watch him sit at the bar and I force myself to look away and instead erase all the j's. I take another sip of my drink and open up my email. More chimes go off and I sigh rubbing my temple.
"Can't help but notice I haven't seen you around here in a good amount of years." I look up and smile at my older brother.
"Alex!" I exclaim and he laughs as I jump out of my chair and hug him.
"Hey sis." He says as I don't dare to let him go.
"You're gonna have to let me go at some point." I say and he laughs finally releasing me.
"It's really good to see you Alex."
"You too." He says taking a seat in front of me.
"So, how's New York?" He asks and I smile.
"Honestly, I was ready to be home."
"Well, it has been five years." He says and I sigh.
"I know, mom has not let me forget that."
"I'm sorry Livi. We've just really missed you around here."
"You know it's been really hard on me Alex."
"I know it's been and I'm sorry, but it's been hard on mom too, not seeing her youngest child nor her grandchild." He says and I nod
"I know, that's why I'm here now." I say and he nods smiling.
"Good, we've missed ya." I smile again.
"Alex Matthews! Man how have you been?" A new voice sounds and I look up.
"Ethan Arrow. It's been a while." My brother says standing to greet the guy in the long black jacket I saw earlier. I clear my throat and Alex laughs.
"Oh Ethan, this is my little sister Olivia." Alex says and I stand up and stick my hand out to Ethan.
"Nice to meet you Olivia." He says and I nod smiling, "nice to meet you too." I say then drop his hand.
"Well, I gotta head out. We need to catch up man."
"Yes, we do." Alex says and I wave as Ethan leaves.
"Umm who was that?" I hiss as we sit back down.
"We were college roommates our junior and senior years." He says with a laugh.
"And I never met this guy because why?" I hiss again
