Chapter 16: A Blast From The Past

I've  gotten a promotion recently. I've become the head director for  information and data security. I started out as a software bug finder  and worked my way up. The company was small before and I was one of the  lucky ones that took the company to its highest peak hence earning  shares and stocks while at it.

I'm  still surviving. And that's a surprise at this point. I couldn't count  how many times I cried and wanted to give up. There were lots of moments  I just wanted to come home and see Lisa but I couldn't face her knowing  that I failed. I used that as a motivation every time I felt like  giving up. It was probably hard for her to get his role back as the heir  to their company.

I  knew she dreamed big but that wasn't it at all. I knew she'd rather be  somewhere else But she isn't. She made a sacrifice and that was all for  the sake of my freedom. She let me be to be able to do my own thing and I  was more than grateful for that. I reached this far, all because of  her. All because of Lisa and I couldn't wait to see her again.

I've  finally gotten the perfect time to come back home. Luckily, Lisa's  company were looking for a new company to collaborate with for their  entire data integration. Hacking had been one of the most problematic  issues in companies in Seoul. I should know, I've experienced it myself  years ago.

They're  looking for a company that would make sure their entire company is  protected by it.  Our company got invited for the account bidding that's  about to take place in Seoul. I'm going there to make sure we get this  project and hopefully, see Lisa for the first time in years.

I  am going there with a good friend of mine, Bae Joohyun. She's Korean  too by the way. She's our lead finance director. She's going to layout  the budget for this project and I'm going to showcase our company's  capability of protecting their entire servers and so on. I was excited  and so fucking nervous at the same time.

I  was looking forward to seeing her this entire time that I didn't think  of other circumstances. Will she still recognize me? Did the color of  her hair change? Is her hair long now? Does she look as beautiful as  before? Is she going to be mad at me for taking too long to return? Did  she wait for me or is she already seeing someone new? All of those  things flashed before my eyes and I was horrified.

I  didn't prepare myself too much about those things and I felt nauseated.  "Are you okay?" Joohyun asked me. "Yeah, I guess I'm just nervous." I  replied. "Are you nervous about seeing her?" She asked me. All those  years I've been here, I confided in Irene a lot. She pretty much knew my  life story from the get go and tried to give me advice, which was  horrible at times.

She  told me to get on the plane if I wanted to see Lisa so bad or smack my  head because I'm acting like a fool. Regardless, I found a friend and I  was thankful. she's one of the reasons why I'm still sane whenever I'd  lose my shit over Lisa.

"Yeah,  I kind of am nervous. I mean, it's going to be the first time I'll be  seeing her in years." I said. "What if she's already with someone else?"  Joohyun asked me. I seriously don't know, I remember telling her to not  hold back if she meets someone else but I'm kind of praying at this  point that it wouldn't be the case.

"I  don't know to be honest. I just want to see her." I said. "Hang in  there." She said. "A few more hours and we're finally landing home." She  added and gave me a smile. This is finally happening. I thought. Oh  God, it's really happening.

We  landed at exactly six pm. The bidding starts tomorrow at 8 am. That  means I have about 14 hours left before we head to MGC. As soon as we  reached our hotel room, I began to start feeling scared.   "Joohyun-unnie, I don't think I can do this. It's been too long." I said  as I started pacing back and forth in our room. "Ya!" She said as she  smacks my head. "You should have thought of that before you decided to  come here. There is no turning back Jennie, face her. We both know you  are more than ready. You've already accomplished so much!" She said.
