Once Jennifer had gotten ready and walked down the stairs, smile radianting as she glanced down at the pool of guests, music playing in the background. Her peach lehenga trailing behind her with her dupatta, her hair parted neatly all blown out, she looked like princess Harshad couldn't help but think. His eyes following her.
For the rest of the day he was made her butler, finding himself following her and he did it willingly. It started with helping her pick up baskets of henna filled cones, serving drinks to all the guests to taking care of all the food.
Harshad was like a shadow and he didn't mind at all.
He was never of two minds, Harshad. Always was firm in the things he belived, whether it was about his parents sudden death being God's plan all along or when he decided that his friends were his own family. He was adamant in his decisions, still is. But right now he was giving himself a major challenge, as he trailed behind her, as he watched her laugh with some old aunties who called her by her character's name, praising her, when she took the extra laddoos from the packet feeding them to the kids - as he watched her exists with a smile on his face, because he had forgotten, had missed the incredible angel Jennifer was.
Her approaching for the very first time, asking if he can be her friend was the only memory he cherished, and that was the one that came to his mind, infront of his eyes as he watched her roam all over the hall, mingling with everyone.
He wasn't able to understand how come he had been blind to her, how come he never appreciated the human she was, the bestfriend she was to him and he mentally slapped himself for driving her away.
He didn't realized he was following her, was on toes helping her carry things, nodding at her orders and giving his hand for help till he heard guys taking a piss out of him. And that didn't stop him, no, it only made him ponder of he was doing this, if he was looking at her, appreciating his beauty because he wanted to be her best friend again, wanted to spend some time again or because he was completely mesmerized by her the moment she had stepped down the staircase.
His eyes had trailed up the peach lehenga up to the small blouse and he couldn't find the courage in him to not take his eyes off .
The tv screen didn't do justice to the beauty she was in reality. And it shocked him, threw him out of the window, punched him in the gut to have these thoughts about her. He tried to leave the room, tried to move away once he realized he hadn't taken his eyes of her for good twenty minutes.
But he couldn't, he couldn't find it in him to tear his gaze away
And so he found himself with a basket full of cones following her as she delightedly ordered him. Moved through everyone behind her as she guided him. The fight inside him up staging each passing minute before he collapsed. Before he decided he needed to have a word with himself because he has a girlfriend. Doesn't it? He has a good, loyal and best girlfriend, because Alia is the best, she is thoughtful, always pushing him forward, cares about the care he has for Jennifer. And he needs to be missing Alia, he needs to be thinking about Alia's olive skin, about her beautiful eyes, about her bare skin soft and glowing throw her beautiful intricate dress
But he doesn't, because Alia is fair, she doesn't have olive skin. Because her eyes are bright, brighter when she gets what she wants, softer when she misses him or wants something from him and playful when she is being generously his. But even though her eyes are beautiful, Jennifer's brighter, more generous, playful to the best as she orderes him to do plentiful things and he needs to stop, he needs to get a hold of himself.
And for that he steps out, takes a deep breathe, engages himself in beer and spends time with the boys forgetting about last night, forgetting about today's morning and forgetting about now. He feels relieved, quickly replying Alia who had messaged about his whereabouts, asking if he is having fun, of he is enjoying and he had taken his sweet time to indulge in details, into telling her all that happened last night, today and going on now, only leaving the parts concerning him. Leaving the time Jennifer's soft lips brushed his, the way it tingled him, just that soft brush, the way he was enjoying the view and her being all soft in those cozy blankets, cute like a kid pushing away the glass and how beautiful she is looking in that lehenga right now.
