Chapter 3

Isaac's POV:

I was walking through the hospital doors with my mom.

She was holding onto my arm tightly as I heard footsteps coming towards us. The room was loud so it could only be the waiting room or something. I felt a cold hand on my forearm and a boyd standing next to mine.

"Hello Isaac. My name's Fiona and I'm going to bring you through that check up today." Her voice was very chirpy and it somehow reminded me of Ashton.

He was one of my best friends since I was going to that soccer game 7 years ago, when I was 10. My dad took me there and our seats were right next to ashton and his mom's seats.

At this time I could see him.

He had this spiky hair and wore an ugly purple shirt. I still judge him for that but he still looked amazing. Not that I'm gay or something it's just in a friendly way.

Fiona took me to a room and I heard her talking to my mother on the other side of the wall. I may be blind but not deaf.

"-when he was 14. It kinda just took the light away." My mom still acted like I was some 9 year old. She always talked about 'an angel who took the light away from my eyes to keep me from seeing bad things'.

Thanks mom.

The door opened and footsteps came toward me. It sounded like a woman. When you're blind you learn to distinguish men from women and that stuff.

"Hello Isaac, it's Fiona again I'll just do the usual stuff now." I nodded and let her to everything.

First, she shone with some flashlight into my eyes and asked if something changed or if I could see some light.

Nope.

Then she put me headphones on and they made some beebing noises. She asked me if I could hear them clearly.

Yepp.

The last thing she did was letting me feel over a paper with braille and I had to read it out loud so she could know if I can still feel perfectly.

Yupp.

"We're done now." I heard her scribble something down on a paper and then the door opened and I heard my mom's voice.

"Isaac honey, Ashton is already waiting for you." I smiled and nodded before she took my arm and led me out of the room and into the waiting room again. The first thing I heard was his giggle and then his voice.

"Isaac!" I just stood there to figure out where he was coming from as an arm was laid around my shoulders. I slightly jumped and heard a crooked laugh. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." I smiled and together, Ashton and I walked out of the hospital to his car. He shut the door behind me and I waited until he was in the car as well.

"How was the check up?" Ash started the car. "It was okay. I mean, nothing special happened.." A sigh escaped his lips. Of course I know he wants me to see again. We drove for a good 5 minutes until Ashton's favourite song played on the radio.

Give a little time to me or burn this out

We'll play hide and seek to turn this around

I heard him sing the lyrics. His voice was amazing but he never believed me when I said that.

The car stopped and I heard Ash open and close the door until he came to my side and helped me out. I smelled the fresh air and immediately knew we were at the parc.

We used to come here when we were younger.

We sat on that one bench and talk for hours. He walked me over to the bench and we sat down. I felt my fingers brush over a familiar spot on the wood of the bench.

I smiled as I remembered it.

*flashback*

"I've always been here with my mom when I was younger." Ashton and I walked through the huge park. He was grinning widely and we were still laughing at this stupid joke ashton made. We walked around for like an hour until we sat on a bench.

"So.." I turned towards ashton and smirked. "How's it with the boys?" His eyes went wide and he blushed. "Is there a boy you like?" He immediately shook his head and I just laughed at his dumbness.

"What about you?"  I furrowed my eyebrows. "I mean girls! Oh god Isaac, you know I mean girls!" We laughed again and leaned back.

We just talked for 6 hours straight and there never was an awkward break where we didn't know what to say.

"You know what?" I had an idea but wanted to ask ash first. "You know, I never want to loose you as a friend, whatever will happen and I heard that if you perpetuate your name's somewhere the friendship will never end." Ash looked at me weirdly and laughed then.

"Isn't that for couples?" I blushed and laughed along but shook my head no.

"Come on, we almost are a couple!" He laughed again but nodded then.

"Okay and where do you want to perpetuate our friendship?" I thought about it and looked down at the bench.

"Here." I pulled my small knife out of my pocket and started to carve in our names.

*flashback end*

"I remember it as well." I could hear Ashton smile just by hearing his words.

"Yeah, me too.." It was exactly 2 months before I had that accident where I lost my eye light. I sighed and heard Ash shift next to me before I felt his arm around my shoulders.

"It's okay, mate. I know you're frustrated about that accident but it's okay." I was about to protest because I mean, everyone says that but Ash, he always knows what to say, and he did. "Yeah, everyone tells you that everyday and I'm sorry for that but it's true. One day everything will be alright." I felt tears well up in my eyes but I wasn't sad.

I was so happy.

So happy.

I was happy he was my friend.

Suddenly I felt Ash tense next to me. I didn't know what was going on and I turned my head to him with my eyebrows furrowed.

"There's this Luke kid." I frowned because I knew Ashton hated this guy. And so did I. "He's coming right towards us." I didn't know what to do so I stood up and immediately I felt ashton grab my wrist.

"Hello."

This was luke. I knew his voice even if I hated him to death.

"Come on, Isaac, we'll leave." Ashton spoke in a voice that said 'Go away, I don't like you' and I guess Luke understood it because I hear him walk away. "This guy." I heard Ashton mumble. "And I used to like him.."
