Chapter 14

Ashton's POV:

"D-did you just say that?" i couldn't believe him. As much as i wanted to believe it i couldn't. Luke nodded and closed his ocean blue eyes for a second before repeating the words that made my heart flutter yet shatter into a billion pieces.

"I like you, Ashton. Please be mine."

My eyes stared at Luke's for what felt like forever before I just looked at the ground.

So many reasons to say yes ran through my head. It was quiet between the two is us. Not even Michael said a word and it felt like the whole world held in a breath. I felt Luke shift under the awkward tension so I looked back up at him.

"No." It felt like I saw his eyes go dull but still I didn't say anything else.

"N-no?" I shook my head and took my hands out of his.

"I can't, Luke. You hurt me and even though I know I-I like you, I just .. I can't." That was when I walked away. I walked out of the school building and sat on a bench right next to it. I didn't feel like going home and I didn't even feel like walking so I stayed there. As I thought everything through I saw Luke running out of the school and right passed me. He didn't look at me or give me a little glance but I heard soft sniffles come from him.

My heart broke for what felt like the thousandth time today. I just wanted to talk and make sure he was alright.

Luke's POV:

I ran to my house because I couldn't stay at school. I was pretty sure that Ashton or Michael would tell people about what happened and it would spread faster then anything.

If people knew about that I couldn't be as popular as I am now.

I liked it.

Like that no one could see my vulnerable or shy side. In school I was loved and outgoing.

When I stood in front of my house I just stared at it for a few minutes because I knew my dad was home. Then I finally walked in. I knew he wouldn't be too happy if he saw I was home early or home at all. That's why I tried to be all quiet. When I reached the top of the stairs I heard a loud scream and glass shattering. I winced and ran to my room as fast as I could. I sat on my bed and pulled out my phone. After a few rounds of flappy bird I got a message from Calum.

[From: Cal pal]

Dude where did u go?

I groaned but typed an answer.

[To: Cal pal]

Home. I'll be at yours when you get home.

I was about to lock my phone but I got another message from him. I furrowed my eyebrows at it.

[From: Cal pal]

Stay home. Got other things t do

I was disappointed for a second but shook it off. Again as I wanted to lock my phone I got another message. This time it was from a unknown number. I frowned and opened it.

[From: Unknown]

u and the Irwin loser? M8 didnt expect that from u

What?!

I didn't tell anyone about that and I think neither did Ashton. I'd say that Michael talked about it to someone but that wouldn't make sense. If this was out in school I could forget about my place at the popular table. I really didn't want to risk this.

Well, at this moment it was too late.
