Ruinstar

~

The cats had come back with nothing, Ruinstar new where they were going. She would not admit it to the other cats. Not even Spiritsong, who seemed to know nothing at all about what was going on with the two young cats.

"Has StarClan told you anything at all Spiritsong?"

"They are safe, and in each others company. That is all I know." She meowed. "But they are very strong Ruinstar, I think they will come home." She said.

Ruinstar nodded at her. Sparrowstep had been hysterical, even though Soaringkit was not her kin she loved him dearly. Just as his siblings did. They seemed lost without the company of there brother. They did not have any desire to play or speak. They just laid down, there thoughts obviously dwelling on there brother. She heard Tidepools quiet whisper to Robinripple. "I don't understand why so much effort is being put into finding a kitty pet and a useless apprentice." He meowed.

A cry broke out from Flashstorm. "The kits are coming!" Spiritsong meowed racing over to her side. Tidepool turned and glanced at his mate quickly and shot a glance at Robinripple. "I hope they are toms." He said quietly, but Ruinstar had heard him.

She walked past him and tapped his shoulder. "Come on Tidepool, lets witness the birth of your kits." She meowed and he followed. The whole clan seemed to be gathering around the queen. Even Sparrowstep's kits.

"Give her a bit of space!" Spiritsong hissed. Cats backed away. Tidepool sat by Flashstorm's side watching as she cursed in pain. Ruinstar remained as well. "Tulipaw!" Spiritsong called waiting for the apprentice to rush over. She sat by Spiritsong's side and observed. Ruinstar made note to speak to Orionoak about having her become a medicine cat apprentice instead.

In no time two kits laid by there mother's side suckling. One had the same dark brown as his father. With deep olive colored eyes. The other was much more like it's mother. A lynx with green eyes. The brown one is a tom, the patterned one is a she-cat." Spiritsong said as Flashstorm laid exhausted on there ground. Disappointment showed on Tidepool's face.

"The brown one is Toadkit." Flashstorm meowed. "The she-cat is Sketchykit."

Tidepool licked his mate paying no attention to his kits. Ruinstar could not get over how much Sketchykit looked like her mother.

Soaringkit

~

They were up and moving again through odd territory and strange lands. Ahead of them there was an open field of wet, soggy land, and which each step Soaringkit sunk a bit into the mud.

"Pick your paws up higher Soaringkit." Meowed Sunnypaw.

"But it hurts!" He protested.

"It takes more effort for you to get them out of the mud than for you too lift your feet up. Come on we are almost out of the mud."

Soaringkit and Sunnypaw continued to walk without saying anything to each other, they just felt close in each others comfort. They finally made it out of the mud and were walking through a forest, but it had less cover and green. There were lots of thick and tall trees that seemed to touch the sky. They were sparse, with little leaves on them at all. Colors he had never seen before of red and orange, like his pelt, laid on the ground and fell off the trees.

"STOP!" Sunnypaw hollered and Soaringkit stopped dead in his tracks. Sunnypaw sighed in relief. "Take a step back." Soaringkit did. He looked down and before him was a big mouth looking thing. It had fang like teeth that stuck up around it. It was gray and in the middle was a small circular platform, not much bigger than a squirrel. Circular links connected each other at one point of it and it lead to a tree that it was wrapped around.

"What is it?" Soaringkit asked.

"I don't know but it can't be good." Sunnypaw meowed.

"It's a bear trap." Said an unfamiliar voice from behind them. Soaringkit gasped and Sunnypaw 360'd around, her claws already stretched. Soaringkit turned as well, ready to do what he could. Except he lost all his courage when his eyes caught on the huge animal. It's black fur thick and large. His snout was long and pointed with a large black nose. Soaringkit had heard stories of such animals before.

A bear.

Ruinstar

~

Ruinstar smiled at the new life before her. "What a blessing from StarClan this is." She meowed to her old den mate, Flashstorm. These kits were her kin. She licked Toadkit's head who purred lightly. Toadkit's eyes were already open and bright, there olive tint was just beautiful. Ruinstar felt that the name Toadkit was so unsuiting for this hansom tom.

Ruinstar had not had any kits of her own yet, let alone a mate. Yet, she told herself that all her kits would have names that meant something to her, names that were special. She loved the name Sketchykit and wondered why Flashstorm had chosen that. She would have asked, but the queen was sleeping. It must be hard work to give birth to kits.

Tidepool had left as soon as his kits were born to hunt with Robinripple. Spiritsong was busy with Hollyheart so Ruinstar told her she would watch Toadkit and Sketchykit while Flashstorm slept. If only Nightwatcher could see them now. He would fall in love with them just as she had. Oh, how she missed Nightwatcher's dark coat and bright eyes. She could not express to any other cat how she missed her den mate. She had Flashstorm, but she was never as close to him as Ruinstar had been. And Ruinstar could never had talked to Hollyheart about it. She would feel embarrassed.

She felt the only other cat who could ever share her hurt was Sunnypaw. Nightwatcher was like a daughter to her. He loved that sweet kit more than Sunnypaw's mother, father, or brother ever could. I will find her, I promise I will Nightwatcher. I will teach her everything you have not. Ruinstar let the thought of Nightwatcher playing moss ball with the bright Sunnypaw dwell on her mind while Toadkit swatted at her tail and Sketchykit slept by her mother.
