Ruinstar

~

"What happened?" Asked Gentlehearts soft voice. Risenspirit walked towards her and sat beside her, his blue coat rubbing against her tabby coat softly.

I began to repeat what Stormy had told me. Questions raced through her mind while she spoke. What would they do? How did he know her name? Or where to find them? Who were they? After she had finished speaking she heard Robinripple began to speak.

"But...." Yet for once the snappy cat did not know what to say.

"For now, just listen to them, do not talk back, do what they ask!" Ruinstar began. "I can't deal with losing any more cats." With that she turned to face Risenspirit. "What in StarClan's name am I to do?" She asked looking at him as talk began to resume. She looked to see the cats from 'The Stone' figuring out where there new dens would be and tearing into the FreshKill pile they had stocked that morning.

"Whatever it takes." Risenspirit said.

"How will we pull through this?" I ask him.

"How all the other leaders have Ruinstar, some cats have been through muh worse than this."

"They have had a better leader. I can't do this Risenspirit. I am not ready."

"Your more ready to do this than any cat here." Risenspirit replied.

I gave him a weak smile. "Do you always know what to say?"

"Almost always." He said and gave me a smile. He flicked his tail at my nose playful and padded off, his fur shining brightly as he moved. Ruinstar did not know what she would do without him.

Soaringkit

~

'Stormy' That name echoed over and over again in the kits mind. 'The storm will come and the sun must find a way to shine, yet the clan must soar.' Could the cat that Ruinstar called 'Stormy' Really be part of this prophecy? Who was the Sun? Soaringkit felt sick to his stomach. He laid down next to his mother. Sparrowstep licked his head quietly.

"What's bothering you my son." Asked Sparrowstep.

"Nothing mother, I promise I am fine." He grabbed a mossball that sat near him and tossed it back and forth in his paws.

Sparrowstep nodded not pushing it any farther. Soaringkit could see Ruinstar padding towards them. She was interrupted by her mother Hollyheart who spoke to her briefly and drowned her with licks. Then she padded over to them and smiled down at Soaringkit. He smiled back and listened as she began to speak to Sparrowstep.

"Sparrowstep, please do make sure to keep your kits close to you. I don't want them wandering a little to far and getting hurt." She said.

"Yes of corse Ruinstar, they will not leave my sight. Dawnkit, Finchkit, Grizzlykit, Soulkit, Ensoulkit, come see me please." The five kits barrled over to there mother and cuddled next to her. Ruinstar smiled at my mother and looked back at me.

"Sparrowstep, would you mind if I took Soaringkit for a bit, I would like to speak with him." She meowed to her. Sparrowstep looked a bit concered, no one blamed her. Soaringkit had disappereared durring the night and scared her stiff. "I promise it will only be for a bit." She said.

"Alright, please don't keep him long." She said.

Ruinstar nodded and smiled at Soaringkit. "Come on little guy!" She said and waited for him to get up and follow. She led Soaringkit not to far from the group of cats gathered, night was beginning to fall upon them and cats were getting settled on the grassy, rocky ground. They were in a little clearing still in camp where apprentices trained.

"What are we doing here?" Asked Soaringkit. Ruinstar sat down slowly.

"I just wished to speak to you is all."

"Alright."

"You seem like something has been troubling you since you got here Soaringkit." Ruinstar said.

"I-I am fine."

"Do you not like it here?" She asked.

"No it's nothing."

Ruinstar shook her head. "I know it is not nothing Soaringkit."

"I had a dream." He began. "There was a cat, he said his name was Risenstar."

"What did he say?"

"He said I was special, that the clan needed me."

"He is right, but why is that troubling you."

"Well a dream is a dream, I was not really sure what to make of it. But when Spiritsong woke me up a few moonrises ago, she took me to a lake. She said it was called ReflectionLake I think?" Soaringkit looked at her to make sure she was still listening.

"Go on." She encouraged.

"Spiritsong told me to put my nose in the water, and then I was in front of four cats, I don't remember all there names, Risenstar was there, Nightwatcher, Freedream, Strawberry?"

"Blueberry, she is my friend, Nightwatcher is my brother. They died before you got here. Freedream was the medicine cat before Spiritsong."

"Oh, well they said something to me, this is really troubling me, he said troubles were coming, that  'The storm will come and the sun must find a way to shine, yet the clan must soar.' "

Soaringkit watched as Ruinstar's face turned from curiosity to confusement. "Why in Silverpelt would StarClan tell this to a kit?" Ruinstar asked. Soaringkit didn't say anything. He was not sure himself. "They must have just wanted a cat to know, I am sure it has nothing to do with you." She said looking at him sternly. "Promise me you won't think about this anymore, don't let it trouble you. I will deal with it." She said. "Kits should not have to let stuff like this tear at them."

Soaringkit nodded. "I promise Ruinstar." He said, his copper eyes looking into her silver ones.

"Good." Suddenly a large tortie came over and hissed at the two. "What are you doing over here, you better not be planning an escape!" She hissed.

"No we were just speaking." She told the tortie.

"Well get back to the camp clearing with the others or I will tear you and your kit to crow food."

Ruinstar picked Soaringkit up by his scruff and carried him back to his mother.

Ruinstar

~

Ruinstar had much trouble sleeping that night, she curled up against her mother like a small scared kit. She was worried about the clan, about what Soaringkit had told her. Why on earth would such a thing we told to a kit? Another thing that bothered her was her mothers deep cough. She hoped the cat was not catching a cold, and just had something in her flu.

The next morning she woke up feeling ten times worse than yesterday. She noticed that a few of The Stone cats were walking over to them. Stormy spoke loudly over all the cats. "You see the pile of prey, it's empty. Empty means my mate, kits, and the rest of The Stone are hungry. He looked at Ruinstar's cats. He flicked his tail at Whitefrost, Robinripple, Runningaze, Hallowpaw, and Tulipaw. "You five go hunt, don't try anything stupid or Mouse will kill you with a single paw." The five left without question and followed Mouse out of camp. "The rest of The Stone, enjoy yourselves with the cats before you."

Hear we go. Ruinsar thought.
