Pairings: Deceit x Virgil

It was late. Two in the morning, actually. Deceit's one objective had been to get something small to eat, since he hadn't eaten much during the day. He'd decided quite a while ago that he'd limit his time out of his room, since every time he was out, he'd get into some sort of argument about his relevancy in the group. He, of course, knew Virgil was a night owl, but he'd assumed the emo wouldn't be anywhere else but his room, like he usually was. Deceit quickly came to understand that this was not the case as he stared at the shaking, hyperventilating side. Virgil, who had his arms around himself leaning against the wall, seemed not to notice Deceit, eyes shut tight. Deceit debated on whether he should go get the others, but how could he leave Virgil in a state like that? No matter how much of a villain the others saw him as, he wasn't an asshole.

He walked over to the other slowly as to not cause anymore panic, "Breathe, Virgil...." He soothed. Virgil's eyes snapped open and the fear in his eyes caused Deceit to halt his advances towards the other, "Woah. Calm down, it's just me."

"De-D-Deceit...?" Virgil stuttered, but Deceit just shook his head.

"Shhh. Don't worry about me, focus on your breathing." He told Virgil, taking a few slow steps forward. It was like he was walking on thin ice. He did not want to screw this up and make things worse, but it was so easy to do. He wasn't good at comforting people. He could barely comfort himself, let alone other people. However, he really had no choice. It wasn't like he was going to leave.

"I-I c-can't...." Virgil whimpered, only for Deceit to shake his head again.

"Yes you can. Inhale," Deceit took a deep breath in, "Exhale," He breathed out. He kept doing this, Virgil quickly catching on and attempting to do the same. It was a challenge at first for the anxious side, but eventually, he was able to breathe normally. The panic that had previously overwhelmed him died down, but he still felt on edge. Still, an improvement.

Deceit smiled slightly as he watched the other calm down, turning and walking over to the cabinets. He opened one of them, pulling out a cup before closing it again. He filled the cup with water before heading back to Virgil, handing it to him, "Drink the water, and if it decides to come back, remember to breathe."

Virgil took the cup hesitantly, then looked up at Deceit, who was already turning to go back to his room, "Th-thank you...."

Deceit glanced back at him, giving him a nod and a small smile before teleporting off.

----------------------
After the first Panic attack, Deceit would take it upon himself to help Virgil through them whenever he happened to find him like that, whether it be in the hallways, the kitchen, or the living room, he'd always help him. It brought up so many questions in Virgil's mind. He honestly liked how Deceit cared. He just didn't understand it, and whenever he would ask him about it, Deceit would always avoid the question. This time, he was going to get answers.

Deceit was there, like always, soothing him and calming him. They were in the living room, and once he was calm enough to speak, Virgil decided to ask him, "Why do you do this....? Why do you help me....?"

Deceit looked confused, almost offended in a way, "Why wouldn't I, Virgil?"

"You seem like you don't care about me or the others.....so why do you do this?" Virgil asked softly, looking Deceit in the eye.

Deceit sighed, looking off to the side, "I'm not as evil as you think, Virgil. I know how I help isn't exactly perfect, but I have emotions. I'm not incapable of caring about someone."

"I thought you hated us....." Virgil muttered.

"Why would I? I have no reason to hate you or the others. However, I try to keep to myself as I've come to understand that you've all deemed me as untrustworthy. Not only that, but it seems as though every time I talk to anyone, it's taken as some sort of manipulation tactic. Why would I come out if that's all you guys take me for?" Deceit explained, refusing to make eye contact.

Virgil looked up at the other, a stab of guilt hitting him as he realized what they'd been doing to Deceit, "O-Oh....Dee, I'm so sorry...."

Deceit dismissed it, shaking his head, "It's alright. Besides, talking to you like this is just fine. It's the others who act as if I'm a monster. Lately, you haven't been, and that's really all I care about."

"You care a lot about me, don't you?" Virgil asked quietly.

Deceit hesitated before giving a small nod, "I do. Of course I do. Why?"

"Although I care a lot about you as well.....why do you care so much about me and not the others? You said yourself that you only care about me liking you....." Virgil asked.

A faint red hue spread across Deceit's face, "B-Because, I care about you......a lot. You're the only person who hasn't pushed me away when I try to talk to them.....but there's another reason."

"And what is that?" Virgil asked curiously, silently hoping he meant what he thought he meant.

Deceit started to back away, regretting even mentioning it, "N-Nothing. It's nothing, Virgil, don't worry about it."

Virgil's arms crossed, and he stared hard at Deceit, frowning, "No, tell me."

"Fine! I love you, THAT'S why. Are you happy?" Deceit said, flinching at his own words. His voice softened, "I love you....."

Virgil froze for a few seconds, then smiled, and with a sudden burst of confidence, leaned forward and kissed Deceit softly and gently. The other stiffened, but melted into it. A few seconds later, Virgil leaned away,
"I love you too, snake."
