his whole body quivered when he saw the girl that was right in front of him.
she's real, she's here.
"eunsol?" he asks.
she turns around slowly. her jaw dropped at who she saw, "no.." she takes a step towards him and he flinches because never has he thought that he'll be standing this close to her, "m-mark? what are you, what-"
"you remember me?" he asks, wide-eyed.
"of course. you're.." she whispered, her eyes becoming watery.
"i'm sorry, eunsol." he apologized, "i'm so sorry."
she was then startled at why he was apologizing all of a sudden but she knew, she remembers that she also had a mistake.
"no, i should be the one apologizing. donghyuck was right, maybe i am bad luck. if you hadn't dated me, you should've been alive right now." she said.
and for the first time, he saw genuine guilt her eyes. at least, he'd like to think of it as genuine.
"you didn't kill me." he reassured, "it was an accident."
"its makes us even then. i died in the same way you did." she remembers how it felt floating out of her physical body and suddenly finding herself in a cloudy place.
"no, you didn't."
"what?"
"god, eunsol, i'm sorry." he ruffles his hair, "i didn't mean to but you looked so sad and i.."
"what do you mean, mark?" she asked.
he hesitated but he knew that he had to tell her, "i killed you."
she couldn't figure out what he meant until she took notice of his wings. they were adorned with pitch black feathers, unlike all the other angels flying around them who had white wings.
"it's fine." she said weirdly, "i know i've done a lot bad of things when i was alive. i guess this is karma."
then they stand in silence, just looking at eachother.
he looked at her as if she was the world, "i missed you, eunsol."
a tear fell from her eye, "me too. ever since you were gone, things were never the same."
"maybe we can start again."
"r-really?"
he extended his arms, signalling her to run into his arms and she did.
but before he could touch her, her hands suddenly burst into flames and began to fly away from him as ashes.
"mark? mark! what's happening?" she asked when she saw her feet turn into ashes and get carried away by the wind too, "what's happening to me? mark!"
he was struck with fear when he came to the realization that she wasn't meant to be in heaven.
she started crying, "mark, what is this? i can't move- i can't-"
"eunsol!" he exclaimed trying to grab her but everytime he tries to hold her, that part of her body will just dissolve away.
"mark!" it was the last thing she said before turning into ashes completely.
her remains fly downwards to wherever that may be.
"i love you."
he falls into his knees in tears.
the actuality that he'll never see her again causes his whole body to ache.
he is the angel of death, he is god's hitman.
he is a stone-cold killer and he takes lives as if it was just as easy as picking petals off a flower.
but a killer always has a weak spot.
even death has a heart too.
(a/n: this is so fucking dramatic)
