Yule is right around the corner so you may want to know how to celebrate in a different format from my Samhain update. Yule is celebrated on the winter solstice but can be celebrated from the 21rst to the 24th. Yule is a celebration of the winter solstice, the longest night of the year and the on coming light we will receive. It is very similar to the Christian holiday, Christmas. In fact a lot of Christmas traditions have roots in this holiday. These traditions include:
-Yule log
-Decorating a pine tree
-Giving gifts to loved ones
-Eating a feast
-Mistletoe
These are some of the many Yule time traditions. Some other traditions include but are not limited to:
-Lighting candles in honour of the sun
-Donating to your community
-Hanging food for lost spirits
-White elephant
-Spells, rituals, charms ect. Relating to Yule ( I.e. family, the sun, the moon, winter ect.)
-Go caroling
-Build a wreath with evergreen, pinecones, mint, coloured ribbons (gold, blue, red, green, white, silver) and other things that get you in the Yule time spirit
-Make Yule tree ornaments
-Leave out offerings of pastries
Really what ever you feel is best for you.
