Hard Times

Tobias' POV

"Here's your options. We give you memory serum and you get Tris back eventually. Or you go freely and probably won't get Tris back." Matthew says harshly. "I don't like those options." i mumble. "Where did you take her?" He smiles "That's for me to know and you to never find out." "Just let me go." I will find her. I have to. I've lost her to many times. "Are they out yet?" He says into his walkie talkie. The person on the other end confirms and Matthew leaves. Two heavily armed guards enter and untie my arms and legs.Before they let me leave they make me drink something that counteracts with the mind control simulation. When i leave the room i see Uriah sitting in a waiting chair with his head bandaged. I cringe and sit next to him. "I'm sorry" he shakes his head "It wasn't your fault. Where's Tris." I lower my head and tears threaten leaving my eyes. "Peter tried raping her and then she faked something with the baby so they took her away." I get up to leave and Uriah quickly follows. "She's gone again?" I nod. "We'll find her." i shake my head. "I'm not sure we will" "Dude you can't give up. Your children need their mother. You need her. I see the way you look at her. Its a look of love, and not the love for Dauntless cake." He laughs. I manage a smile and turn to him. "i'm going to run home. I'll meet you at the house"

I walk in the door and Natalie screams. I ignore it and walk to Mason's room. He and Kayla are playing with blocks with Marlene. She looks up probably expecting Tris judging by the smile on her face. "Don't worry i'm fixed." i say raising my hands. She nods and leaves me. "Hey buddy" i say sitting on the floor. "Dada" he says pointing to me. I nod "Yes dada good job" he smiles and claps his hands. "Can you say Kayla?" i ask pointing to his sister. She perks up and smiles at me. "Kaya" I smile. Close enough "Yes Kayla" I pick them up and bring them downstairs with me where Natalie is sitting on the couch with Shauna. She see's me and quickly focuses her attention back to the tv screen. "Shauna can you keep and eye on them?"  she nods and takes the twins out of my arms walking back up stairs. "Natalie i need to talk to you." she shakes her head and hides behind the couch pillow. "Princess, that wasn't me you saw. I promise i will never forgive myself for what i've done to you. And you have every right to be mad and scared because i know how you feel. But i need you to understand that i will never harm you in any way. Its hard even for me to understand but i wasn't in control of my brain. Someone was telling me to do those things. I promise you that i will never ever hurt anyone again ok?" i look at her eyes for an answer. She looks angry which is completely understandable. "I know you're angry and i'm so so sorry" i say opening my arms. She hesitates for a few minutes then leans into my hug. "She promised." i hear her cry. "What?" "Mommy promised she would never leave and she's gone isn't she?" i sigh and pull her closer. "Mommy knows how to defend herself. I wasn't able to save her that time. But I will do everything in my power to get her back to us." She nods and we sit on the couch for a long time before i hear a knock at the door. 

"Johanna?" she smiles at me through the door way. "May i come in?" i move so she can come in and she looks around. "What's wrong?" she shakes her head "Nothing i came to run something by you and Tris." Her name just shatters my heart. Natalie comes around the corner and i pick her up. I quickly explain the less detailed version of what happened and Johanna looked sickened. "Well. I will have officials on that right away. But what i came for was a proposition. We are reinstating the factions. Not as extreme as they used to be but more as a guide line for young kids to choose a way to look at life. They will be able to visit family whenever they feel, and live where ever they would like, but the faction in which they choose will determine their job and their mindset on life." she smiles. That's a lot to take in. Natalie looks confused and asked "What are fractions?" I laugh slightly "Factions are how me and mommy were raised." i turn back to Johanna "So why are me and Tris involved?" She smiles and hands me a book. "I'd like you two to be initiate trainers and Dauntless leaders. If you're up to it." i take a look at the book. It reads Dauntless manifesto and guidelines. "That's the newer version, if you take the job you may make revisions as needed it's just a guideline." She starts walking back to the door. "It was very nice meeting you sweety, and Four, i wish you the best of luck. I will try and get all officials to look for her." i nod and close the door. The factions are back?
