I didn't sleep at all that night. I was too busy thinking of how I could get rid of Danny, without committing a crime, I had already contemplated killing him and being done with it but I didn't want to go to prison. I didn't see a way around this unless I did call the cops, but I didn't know where Danny was staying to tell them where to go.
At seven the next morning I heard Taryn stumbling around and I got up. I was even more sore now than I was yesterday, which I didn't understand, last night he had left me alone, just threatened me. I saw Taryn puke into the toilet bowl and get up, flushing it.
"How much did you drink last night?" I asked her.
"I don't know. Did I say or do anything stupid?" she asked, concerned.
"Yes. You told me Tyler wants to wait until marriage to have sex but you don't want to marry him," I said, laughing.
"Oh my god," she groaned. "I was fucked up. I don't even remember why I started drinking. I just wanted to I guess," she shrugged.
Taryn didn't drink that often but when she did she would get hammered. I, on the other hand, hated the taste of most alcohol. I preferred to get high, there was no hang over and it wouldn't kill me.
"I'm sure there was no reason. There never is," I told her.
"I know, you don't have to point out my flaws."
"You pointed out mine last night," I responded.
She just groaned.
There was a knock on the door and my heart was racing. I hadn't even left the apartment all night, it couldn't be Danny, could it? Before I could stop her Taryn walked to the door and opened it. To my surprise it was my friend from back in Maine, Mackenzie.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised to see her. I hadn't seen Mackenzie since I had first moved to L.A. She had moved to Miami and hadn't talked to me much since then.
"My boyfriend came here to visit his family and I came with him," she said throwing her arms around me.
"I've missed you," I told her.
No one really knew what had happened between Danny and I, other than our families, and now Jack Gilinsky. My parents had wanted to keep everything quiet since I was only 16 at the time. I hadn't even told my best friend about what had happened, the only thing everyone knew was that Danny had done something and been taken to jail.
"Let's go do something," she suggested.
"Like what?"
"Lets go to the beach."
"You want to go to the beach? You live in Miami, aren't there enough beaches there?" I asked laughing.
"None like here. Come on lets just go," she pouted.
"Fine. Let me go change," I said, turning on my heels and walking to my room.
I put on a pair of jean shorts and a plain pink shirt over a black bikini. I grabbed my phone off the charger and walked back out to Mackenzie.
"Ready?" she asked.
"Yeah. Lets go." I grabbed my sunglasses and my purse and we started to walk out.
"We're going to the beach!" I yelled to Taryn. I would have invited her but I figured she was too hungover to even think about going to the beach.
"Okay!" she said, trying to yell.
I closed the door and locked it. We started walking down the hall and passed Jack and Jack.
"Hey," Jack Johnson said to Mackenzie.
