I drove to the nearest police station I knew about and parked, taking a deep breath before getting out of the Jeep. I walked into the station and walked up to a desk.
"Hello. Can I help you?" the woman asked.
"I was just raped," I told the woman without a second thought. The womans eyes got wide and she stood up, walking to a male office and pointing to me.
"Do you know who raped you?" the man asked.
"Yes. It was my ex-boyfriend Danny Mitchels," I told the man.
"We're going to have to do some tests to make sure you're not lying to us," he informed me and I just nodded.
***
"There is nothing in the tests that say you were raped, Ms. Hart," a new male officer told me.
"I'm not lying, I promise," I said, desperate for them to believe me.
"I don't think you are but the tests say otherwise. Did you bathe before you came here?"
"No," I said, quietly. There was no way Danny had carried me to the bathroom and forced me into the bath in the time that I was knocked out was there? I wish I could say I believed that but I knew anything was possible with Danny, and it wasn't like I was that heavy. He was in fact a psychopath that was in love with me. "Could it be possible that Danny forced me into the bath while I was knocked out?"
"I assume it could be," the man nodded.
"Fuck," I muttered. "I'm sorry. I'll be on my way then."
"We'll call you if we find him."
"Thank you. Have a nice night," I told the man and walked back to my Jeep.
When I got in and turned the Jeep on I started hitting the steering wheel as hard as I could and screaming at the top of my lungs. He was always one step ahead of me no matter what.
"Why me?!" I yelled to no one. "What did I ever do to deserve this." By this point tears were streaking my cheeks and I knew they wouldn't be stopping soon so I pulled out my phone and tried to find Jack's name through my blurred vision.
"Brooklyn where did you go? Are you okay?" he asked frantically.
"I'll explain everything later," I managed to get out. "But will you please come get me. I can't drive right now."
"Yeah. Where are you?" I told him where I was and he told me he would be here soon.
I turned the radio on loud trying to down out my thoughts. Within five minutes I saw another Jeep pull into the parking lot and I shut of my car and grabbed my stuff. I locked the Jeep and walked over to Jack's Jeep.
"What happened?" Jack asked as I got in, his eyes looked big and sad.
"He's too smart for me. Nothing I can ever do will be enough. He's one step ahead." I went on to tell him what I thought had happened and he sat listening intently. When I finished the tears had come back and he pulled me into him. I sobbed into his chest for a few minutes. For the first time in a week, I felt safe.
"What are you going to do if you're pregnant?" he asked.
"I don't think I am. I'm on the pill, you know, just in case," I told him, still wrapped up in his arms. He nodded. Never in a million years had I thought that I would ever be talking to Jack Gilinsky about what would happen if I was pregnant, or be wrapped in his arms crying. "We should probably go."
He nodded and we started driving back to the apartments.
"Thank you, Jack," I told him as we got to our doors.
"It's fine. You don't need to thank me."
I nodded and opened my door. I walked back to my room and layed in my bed. Not sleeping, I couldn't sleep, I was too busy thinking about everything.
***
No, no, NO, I thought, freaking out inside. Danny really was one step ahead. He had taken my birth control so I wouldn't be able to take it. I needed to go to a drug store so I could get the morning after pill but I didn't have my car and I didn't want to bother Jack again this early.
I dropped to my knees and put my head in my hands, my head suddenly hurting. How could he be so smart?
After 10 minutes I gave in and knocked on Jack's door. Jack Johnson answered and gave me a confused look, clearly not expecting me to be there.
"I need to talk to Jack," I told him.
"He's still asleep," he told me.
"Fuck. Do you know where he keeps his car keys?" I asked.
"Why?"
"I need them. For twenty minutes. Please Jack, I'm begging you. Let me have his keys."
"They're in his room," he sighed.
I ran to the door that I knew was Jack's and slowly opened it. I saw Jack laying on his bed, asleep. I looked around the room looking for his keys. I finally found them on his dresser and grabbed them.
"Thank you," I told Jack before I left.

I held the pill between my fingers and threw it into my mouth, taking a drink of the water I had bought.
Thank god that's over, I thought and pulled out onto the road.

When I got back all I was just hoping Jack hadn't woken up yet. It was only 10 a.m so I didn't know if he would be or not. I went back to their door and knocked. To my displeasure Jack Gilinsky opened the door.
"What the hell Brooklyn? You stole my car?" he asked, anger evident in his voice.
"I'm sorry, but I have a good explanation."
"Tell me," he said, taking his keys from my hand.
"Danny took my birth control so I couldn't take it and I needed to go get the morning after pill, but my car is still at the police station and I didn't think I could wait for someone to take me," I said, talking as fast as I could.
"So you stole my car?"
"Technically I borrowed it," I pointed out.
He ran his hand over the back his neck. "Okay," he sighed.
I smiled, happy he had forgiven me so easily.
"As long as you, and my car, are okay," he sighed.
"Your car is fine and as of right now I'm fine," I smiled, thankful that he didn't yell at me more. "You're the best," I said and turned around to my door.
He kept watching me until I shut the door, probably making sure I didn't get raped again, which I was thankful for. I didn't know what I would be doing without him.
