Troye's POV:
Dinner was exactly what I expected it to be. Teasing from my entire family. As soon as we got to the restaurant, we were asked if we wanted to sit next to each other or if that would make things too obvious. I just accepted the fact that I was going to sit next to him. I mean, it wasn't like I hated it or anything.
I was supposed to enjoy dinner. It was the first time Tyler was in Perth, and the first time for me seeing my parents in a long time. However, paranoia set over me, forcing me to keep my eye out for anything suspicious. "That's what Jack would have wanted," Tyler had said. His voice echoed in my ears, even when he wasn't speaking.
"Troye are you okay?" he mumbled in my ear. My head whipped around to face him.
"Perfect," I stuttered. I knew he could tell I wasn't, though.
"I told you everything was okay. Nothing is going to happen." I could feel his hand placed against his back, and Tyde, who was sitting on the other side, raised his eyebrows. Before he could even open his mouth, I gave him a look that told him to shut up. That was the last thing I wanted to worry about at the moment.
"So, Tyler, how long are you planning on staying in Perth?" my dad asked.
Tyler shrugged his shoulders. "Dunno. I guess whenever everything back in LA calms down, I'll go back."
"Well, you're more than welcome in our home until that happens," my mom added.
Tyler smiled graciously. "Thank you so much. It honestly means so much to me." His words came out slurred.
Suddenly, his phone began to go off. He ignored it the first few rings, though.
"Aren't you going to get that?" I asked pointedly.
"Oh, yeah." He fumbled around for his phone. I peered over his shoulder to see who it was. Connor.
Tyler put the phone on speaker. "Hey Connor," he said. "What's up?"
"Where are you guys?" Connor blurted.
Both our eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean? Are you okay?" I asked.
"We went back to LA."
"Connor!" Tyler exclaimed. "I specifically told you not to do that!"
"I know, I know. But Hannah, Mamrie and Grace were going and, well, I didn't want them to go without me and Joey."
Tyler practically slammed his head on the table out of frustration. "Well, why are you telling me all of this?" Tyler asked after a few seconds.
"Hannah's missing. The three girls went back to their own apartments and nobody's heard from her since. We tried going over to her house, but once we were able to kick down the door, nobody was there."
All of my family was looking at us, concerned. "Okay. Let us just talk this through. We'll get back to you soon," Tyler managed. He was frustrated.
He hung up the phone and turned to face me. However, my dad was the first one to speak. "What are you guys going to do?"
"Do you think we should go back?" Tyler asked.
I began to nod my head, but my mom cut in. "No way. Troye is not going back to LA with the those people on the loose. I don't want you going back either."
"But mom-"
"No, Troye. Simply no. I know they're your friends, but you have to worry about your own safety first."
"Laurelle, I think Troye is right. These people aren't going to go away until they're behind bars. As long as they're still capturing us, no progress is going to be made," Tyler butted in.
"Okay, but what are you going to do about it?" my dad asked.
Crap. That was a question I wasn't equiped to answer. I had no clue what we'd do if we did go back. It's not like we could hunt them down and put them behind bars on our own. We were just two puny little men.
"See?" my mom said. "There's nothing you can do. You have to stay here."
I knew what Tyler wanted to say next. He was going to tell them off, but I was not in the mood to listen to him sass my parents. Instead, I pinched his arm. He got the memo.
"Troye, we know how much these people mean to you. But they made their own decisions. Be the smarter one," my mom continued.
"Okay mom!" I exclaimed, annoyed. "I get it. You don't want me going back to LA to help some of my best friends." I was still stuck here with my boyfriend, though, so I guess things could be worse.
Tyler's phone went off again, and this time, he didn't even try to ignore. The phone didn't recognize the number. In fact, I could tell it was a Perth area code. Strange.
He picked the phone up, and whoever was on the other line started talking right away. I could see the colour drain out of Tyler's face second by second. "Tyler?" I asked once he had hung up the phone. "Tyler who was that?"
"I don't know," he said, refusing to look at anyone. I grabbed Tyler's arm and lead him out towards the lobby of the restaurant.
"Tyler, tell me now."
"It was somebody, I think, trying to help us. They said that there were people here in Perth looking for us. People that work for Jack. It could be trap, though."
"Well, if it's true, we should probably get back to the table," I said. "I don't want to be away from them for too long. They might be-"
Suddenly, there were arms around my torso. It wasn't Tyler, though. No, these people were grabbing me, but not Tyler. "Troye!" he screamed, reaching out to grab me. However, he was pushed away by another man standing nearby. "What the hell is going on?" he screamed. He was being held back, then. "TROYE!"
I just continued to stare at Tyler, trying to get away, but it was no use. Jack still hadn't been caught, and he was still coming after us. Well, me. What were they going to do to Tyler? "TYLER!" I yelled back. It was too late, though. I was already outside the restaurant, and a man whom I had come to hate was facing me. Jack.
