This analogy is used to create a picture where you consider that the soul is not unlike the fuel you put in your car, it has no control over what you do at the wheel.
You can feed the engine all the additives you like, but if it's flawed, there's nothing the fuel can do to prevent it from failing.
And when an engine is broken it gets recycled, just like your broken biological body.
