During dinner, I can see that James is enjoying my parents’ company as they laugh together and yet I can’t relate myself that much. “Annie used to be talkative during dinner. It’s a big change that she’s quiet tonight.” Mom said as she gives me a teasing look.

“Mom! Zipper please?” I can tell that James is enjoying laughing at the awkward facts that my parents enumerate them one by one. “I remember when she cried because she thought I ate all her marshmallows. She is a mallow-munching monster.” Dad added.

I was humiliated enough that after dinner I invited him into my room so I could make him forget all the things he’d heard from my parents, but I know he won’t.

“I’m sorry, usually my parents only does that in front of my visitors. About the marshmallow thingy, it’s not true. Okay maybe a little bit, but I’m not that craving for mallows.” But it’s true, I do love marshmallows. “It’s cute actually. I am imagining your face how it look like when your mouth’s stuffed with marshmallows.” Then he paused and laughed frantically. “Oh my gosh, you look like a chipmunk.” Then he continued laughing.

I grabbed a pillow then hit him in the face. He stopped laughing then grabs another pillow and smashed it to me. We were running around my room hitting each other with pillows, that the pillow I was holding was almost ripped into two, feathers are already coming out. He tried to corner me but I throw the pillow I’m holding at him. He tackled me and I tripped at the stuffed toy on the floor, so we end up lying on the bend. He was on top of me as we giggle like children, then he stopped laughing because he was already looking at me. Our faces were like five inches away from each other.

We spent like fifteen seconds staring each other, but we end up laughing again. “Hey James?” I was thinking a word to say to him, but I was blank. “About the Talent show...” he leans closer to me then whispered “yeah?” I was about to say it when James’ phone rang. It was his mom, telling him to go home. He turns around and gave me a disappointed smile. “Look I got—“ I knew he was going to leave, “Your mom called. Come on, let me talk you downstairs.” I put on my fluffy bunny slippers and put on my pink sweater.

“I guess you’re going home. I had fun. Thanks.” Then he reached for my shoulders and quickly damps his lip in my cheeks. I gasp in surprise, “Did you just—“then he smiled and ran away, “Bye Annie, see you tomorrow.” As I watch him goes farther and farther, I can’t stop thinking about what he did.

I came inside with a big smile in my face and I didn’t notice that my cheeks are so red that I’m already blushing, although I can feel my face getting warmer and warmer. I ran upstairs and I saw my cat Toby, I quickly grab him and dance him in the air and hug him feeling his soft fur as his bell rings. “Toby, I’m so happy. I never felt so happy in my life. Wait.” I paused. “This weird feeling, it couldn’t be, am I? No...No, no, no, absolutely not. Am I falling for him?” Toby’s eyes widen as it sparkles when light hits it. “Great, now I’m talking to a cat.” Toby climbed into my belly and lay down until he falls asleep.

I felt a strong vibration near my hips, at first I thought it was Toby’s purring, but I got up and he’s no longer there. A small light appeared under my sheets. It was my phone that was vibrating all along. There’s a message from an unknown number. The message goes this way: hey Annie, it’s James. Just checking you out. How did he have my number? He doesn’t even know that I do use my phone. James is so inexplicable, maybe if I get to know him more I can easily understand him, and of course, explain this weird feeling I feel.
