It was a quiet trip, and yet a cold night. It was almost midnight and my phone’s flooded from all of mom and dad’s unread messages and missed calls but I didn’t have time to read them because my phone’s about to die.

“You’re quiet right now princess” James quickly muttered.

I shake my head, “Nope. It just that whooo!” I let out a loud exhale, “what a night, lot of things happened in just one night.”

He chuckled softly, “Thanks princess, you know what you did to fix my relationship with my sister means a lot to me. And you know my parents like you too. Mom said I could take you for dinner at home every night.” I felt a warm feeling that moment. “You’re family’s so sweet James; I think I have fallen in love with them.” I said, he smiled as he stares at me with his blue eyes.

The car stops at the front yard of our house. James opened the car door beside me and gently assists me as I walk out. He escorted me into the front door. “5 minutes to spare.” He said. I quickly look at my phone in a 3% battery power, which is enough to see the time, 11:55 pm. “Hey you’re right, looks like I’m not grounded then.” And we both laughed. The light upstairs turned on, mom knows I’m home. In this quiet night I can barely hear her footsteps going down the stairs.

The door lets out a silent creek as mom opens the door gently. The sight of mom in her bugs bunny pyjamas is what welcomes me and James. James and I turned to look at each before we start laughing. “Oh gosh for some reasons I thought James has already taken you home forever.” Mom laughed, “So did you two enjoy your night together?” Mom is teasing me, right in front of James, which is very humiliating. “Mom stop!” I hissed. “James you wanna come inside for a hot cup of chocolate milk? It’s quite cold tonight.” Mom offered. James gave a smile, “Uh I guess I have to go Mrs. Brookes, It’s getting late, and my mom might get mad, but it was great to take your daughter for dinner. I was hoping if I can do this again in some time.” Mom looked at me with that creepy smile again. “Oh sure James, any time. Well you be careful then on your way home.” Then mom went inside. “Well it was the greatest night ever. Thanks James.” Then I quickly grab him and wrap him in my arms. Until I realized that I was hugging him. We both looked at each other like it was the most awkward moment ever. “Uh, I guess I gotta go.” I can feel his voice trembling. He runs his fingers through his blonde locks, and slowly turns around and walk towards his car. “Good night.” I bid. He looked back and smiled at me, “Good night princess. See you in school on Monday.”

I watch him as he drives farther and farther, and me waving him goodbye ay I see the silhouette of his car disappears as he drives farther.

I went inside to grab myself a cup of hot chocolate milk before I go to bed. I sat down on the couch. Mom places the up in front of me then she sat down. “So, tell me everything.” She said as she put both her feet on the couch and she was ready to listen to me, like a little kid who’s ready to listen for her bedtime story. I gave her a smile before lifting the up and sipping some hot chocolate. It was a long story, but it was worth to tell.

The next day, I woke up super late because mom didn’t bother to wake me up. She did leave me breakfast. I took out my phone and I had over 58 unread messages, mostly from Sam whose keep on asking me about the date last night, but the most recent message was from James saying he had the greatest night and greeting me good morning. I can pass up but to smile like a fool.

So I decide to call him, but what answered my call was a recorded message. “He must be sleeping.” I reasoned.

My parents have already been teasing me about James, I mean, what’s wrong about a guy friend taking you for dinner?

I admit, for the next couple of weeks hanging-out with James, I think I really am falling for him. But does he know? I hope he doesn’t, because to me I am just a friend, but tome, he is more than that.

That night when he took me out for dinner, a lot of things happened which gave me a reason to fall for him.But I don’t think I am ready to tell him, yet.
