After the crazy training session between Shiro and I - then the girls' only hangout with Allura and Pidge - I decided on settling with talking to my Lion. Even though the Lions of Voltron can't speak, they still make great listeners.
I step into the Purple Lion's mouth, walking up into the cockpit. I know I shouldn't be walking into the cockpit in casual clothing, but I can't be bothered changing into my armour again. Plus, Lunch will be in a few doboshes.
"Hey, Purple." I say, barely above a whisper. I sit down in the seat designed for the paladin and I grab the book again. "The last recorded paladin of the Purple Lion was Princess Cara Skywalker of Planet Lyfeton, Princess of the Lycans that inhabited Lyfeton. Cara was known to be a sweet and gentle wolf who cared more about others' safety than her own. She saw her fellow paladins as her brothers and sister. Cara was loyal and tended to put her life on the line for the team. The princess was well known throughout her kingdom as their savior, but she never took any credit. Princess Cara always insisted that it was her friends or her Lion - the Purple Lion - who did most of the work." The Lion roars softly, as I look at the dashboard. "That's what you look for in a paladin. A kind-hearted, loyal paladin willing to give fame to her friends and loved ones before themself."
"I presume that's why she chose you." Freaking out, I jump from my seat and drop the book on the floor. "It's just me, don't freak out."
I glare at the Red Paladin, then we walk out of the Lion. "You didn't exactly say you were coming up."
"That's true." Keith shrugs, as he shoves his hands in his pocket. "I was listening to you read. The princess - she reminds me a lot of you, Cloud. You're both really nice to everyone, and incredibly loyal." We walk into the Mission Quarters to see Allura, Pidge and Lance by one of the screens. "Hey, guys. What's going on?"
Allura turns around and answers, "we have been sent a distress message, but we can't seem to read it. It's in another culture's language."
I look at the screen as we walk over. "I know why you can't read it. It's in Lupine."
"What?" Keith and Lance frown, looking at me.
"Isn't that the language Lycans speak?" Pidge asks, before whipping out a small notebook. "Yes, here it is. Over twenty thousand years ago, Lycans had been inhabiting Lyfeton for nearly three thousand years. The King of the time began speaking in a crypted way, soon learning another language for his people, but when Lyfeton was destroyed, and they moved over to another planet, their native language was lost and only the royal family or Lycans close enough to the family will be able to decipher Lupine."
I nod, slightly amused about the new information for the other paladins. "Navis nostra est ledo. Subsidium mitteret. Nos ex Imperii Galra navis vento urente percussæ stella Arus. I think it translates to Our ship has been hit. Send help. Galra Empire ship blasted us on Planet Arus." I nod at the clear Lupine language used.
"We'll begin heading there now." Allura nods, heading up to her podium. "It'll take us from twenty varga to a quintant."
I groan, sitting down in my designated seat. "That long?"
"We are quite the distance away from Arus now, Cloud." Allura looks over at me, as I huff and fold my arms over my chest.
Pidge walks over and sits down on the arm of my chair. "Wanna go sit with our Lions?"
Smiling, I look up at the youngest paladin. "You know it."
