Sorry I didn't update in a while, my laptop charger broke so I had no way to charge it, my charger just came in the post today and I've updated ASAP. Thank you anyone who voted/commented. Zoe's POV

Officer John brought me back to the police station. He went in to test the hair so I turned on my phone and found I had several missed calls.

Exasperated, I dialled Marcus back. "Marcus?" I asked.

"Zoe! Oh my God, we're all so worried! Are you OK?" Marcus cried.

"I'm fine," I said. "I'm at the police station, they're sampling a lock of Tyler's hair to see if it matches the lock of hair I found on the gun that was used in the shooting."

"Wait, you went back to the crime scene? That's so dangerous Zoe! You worried us all to death! Joe almost went back into a coma! Honestly Zoe!" Marcus yelled.

"I just wanted to end this Marcus," I said softly, a tear running down my face. "I don't care if I have to sacrifice myself I can't live in fear anymore, I have to find out who's doing this and stop them, no matter what it takes, before they strike again."

Marcus started to talk but I ended the call, texting him:

I'm fine. Switching my phone off. I'll text you again when we get the hair sample back. Send my love to

I turned my phone off and waited feverishly for the test results. I really hoped it was Tyler, because then this game would end.

After about an hour, although it felt like years, Officer John called me into his office.

I bit my lip, terrified. "Well?" I asked.

"The hair on the gun..."

"...It matches. Tyler's the murderer. I'm sorry Zoe," Officer John said, obviously thinking I'd break into another panic attack. "Do you need a glass of water?"

"I know I should be frightened out of my life that it was one of my close friends but I'm just relieved it's all over and we know who it is. We might be able to catch him!" I said hopefully.

"Already have," said Officer John. "As soon as we analysed the hair the officers sped straight down there, and after the quickest court session ever, he was locked up. Do you want to see him?"

"I would actually. I want to know why he did this," I said.

Officer John led me underground to the cells. We went through twisting corridors until we came to a huge cell with every security measure. A pathetic looking Tyler with his neon white hair and glasses sat meekly on a chair in a bright orange jumpsuit.

"Zoe!" Tyler cried, seeing me. "It wasn't me I swear! I'd never do that! Please believe me! Tell them!"

"Tyler, we found your hair on the gun. Why would you do that?" I yelled at him.

"I didn't I swear!" Tyler yelled back.

"OK I'm done. If he's going to keep denying it there's no answers out of him. I'll text my boyfriend and tell him to pick me up," I said, insanely angry at Tyler's nerve.

I texted Jack, and he promised me he'd meet me down the road in ten minutes.

"Thanks Officer," I said to John, and walked out of the station and along the empty narrow road Jack would meet me at.

It was getting dark and there weren't any cars about but I wasn't worried. Tyler was locked up. No one was going to hurt me anymore.

After fifteen minutes Jack arrived, with Finn in the passenger seat. He stepped out of the car and pulled me into his arms.

"I missed you Zoe," he said. "I'm so glad they caught Tyler and you're OK."

"Me too," I cried into his shoulder.

But then i felt something in my back.

"Too bad they caught the wrong guy," Jack smirked.

A knife. There was a knife in my back. Jack released me and everything went black as I crumpled to the floor in a pile of blood and pain.
