Tatiana Lopez
As I stormed out of the house, I could hear Cody calling for me. “You stay the fuck away from me, okay?” I shouted turning around. I turned around again, walking faster. “The fuck I won't! We have to back now. For all we know, there could be 1) Creatures out here, and 2) There could be more of those Crows or whatever they call themselves amongst us! I won't let my friend die! Not again!” He shouted at me. That's when I laughed. Turning around, I smiled. “What's the point? Alexis was right. We're all going to die anyways, why not just end the pain now? Besides,” I walked closer to him. “I'm sure you'd want to see everyone you truely love again.” He growled at me, shaking his head. “They wouldn't want to see me up there... Not now. I will survive this until I die naturally. And you'll die the same way! Everyone will! I won't let you go that easily!” I laughed again.
“It's the end, Cody. What choice do we have? There is no new beginning. We screwed ourselves over. We're done for, and I'm done with you.” I began walking away again when Cody grabbed my arm, pulling me close to him. A little too close..
“Tatiana.” He said calmly. “Cody.” I said back. “You've changed.” I looked up at him, thinking of what he had said. Had I changed? No, I couldn't have. You can't change that fast. You can't change over night... Can you? “No,” I looked down. “I haven't changed. You just think of me differently. I'm still Tatiana. She isn't gone. She's still here. And she won't ever leave. Never.” I told him strongly.
We stayed silent for a while. “Do you love me?” He asked by surprise. I stared at him in shock. What kind of question was that? I looked him over. My heart suddenly jumped.
“It depends.”
A tear slid down my eye. He lifted up his hand and wiped it away with his thumb. He smiled softly. “Tia, I think I'm falling for–”
The house suddenly exploded. We both ducked down from the impact, staring at the ground in shock. “GO!!” He yelled taking my hand and running. “The others!” I gasped. He turned around, seeing them already outside. “They're fine, they'll meet up over at the road!” We both began running when the house exploded again. A piece went flying towards us, large enough to smack into the back of our head. He quickly held me close as we got hit, both of us passing out on the ground.
When I had woken up, I felt pain on my head. Opening my eyes, light hit them making me hiss. I sat down on a chair, my wrists and ankles cuffed. A table sat in front of me like that was some interrogation or some shit. Across from me, Cody was in the same situation. On the side of the table Zach was also cuffed. Zach was already awake, but Cody was still sleeping.
“Zach–What the hell is this?” I whispered to him. He opened his mouth to speak but we were both immediately shocked with a powerful force of electricity. I let out a scream of pain, Zach doing the same. “Don't talk,” He whispered in pain to me. I nodded slowly. Us screaming must've woken up Cody, cause he woke up confused.
“Tia!? Zach!? The fuck is going–” Another shock. I hissed in pain. My wrists and ankles began hurting from the cuffs. We all decided to stay silent. Though, even if we let out the smallest of sound, we would all get shocked.
This is how it went for 10 hours. We all just sat there in pain and misery. I looked up, seeing Zach and Cody's head down. Both their hairs were pretty messy. I can't imagine how mine looked, but that isn't important. My eyes twitched as I looked around.
As I lost all hope, an intercom turned on. “If you all want to make it out alive, a sacrifice will be needed.” We all listened closely. Sacrifice?
“Though, I highly doubt you will take this sacrifice. You all might as well just kill each other now. You'll be stuck like this for years and years and years.” Although I couldn't see the man behind the glass that acted as a mirror, I knew that sickening smile of his. “You want us to kill each other?” My voice croaked. “I did just say that, didn't I? Hunger is pain. You are all to be released by my men, but you remain inside this room. A gun will be left here for you. All I ask is that you give me a sacrifice...”
“You fucking sicko! When I get out of here, I'll rip your head off!!” Cody yelled, struggling to break free. The man laughed before the intercom turned off. A metal door opened up, revealing two men. It closed behind them as they entered. Walking over to us, they began uncuffing us. I looked over to the boys. Glancing over at the men then back at them, I nodded.
They nodded back, knowing my plan. As soon as they uncuffed us, we slammed our bodies into them. I grabbed the gun they would leave for us, head-locking one guard and pulling the trigger against his head. I threw the gun to Zach, who shot the guard about five times while Cody help him back.
“Let's get the fuck out of here!!” I gasped when about five other men came in, holding us down and taking our weapons. God they were fucking strong! I struggled, kicking and throwing my arms around. I managed to get two men off of me before a few more stormed in, holding me down.
“TATIANA!!” Zach and Cody yelled. I noticed a Crow symbol on the side of their gear. “Fucking crows,” I mumbled. Suddenly I felt a powerful shock go through me. All my muscles gave out, allowing the men to drop me. I couldn't move at all. I was fucking paralyzed. “Looks like we have a fighter, boys.” A man spoke up. He walked into the room.
“Shit man, you look fucking terrifying!” Zach yelled out. Cody suddenly started laughing. The man himself had stepped into the house. The leader of Murder Of Crows. His whole lips were missing, most likely burnt off. His eyes were left red as if he had been itching them or some shit. His left cheek was also missing, revealing the inside of his mouth.
“An experiment,” He sighed. “I was a failed experiment to myself.” The pale man spoke, looking at his hand while he kept his other arm behind him. His arms revealing un-healed skin, having dried flesh.
“As Rosewood may have already explained to you, we wanted to make humans stronger. Although I was the leader, I was the weakest amongst everyone. I was growing old. I was dying. So I decided to take it to the next step. I injected myself in which we call the 'Creptonium-Virus', which had created my beautiful creatures you've all seen. I felt stronger in a matter of seconds. But the side effects were...” He looked down at me. His mouth wrinkled up into what was almost a smile, more of a smirk. “Unexpected.” I shifted my eyes towards Cody and Zach, both full of fear and concern.
“Now, I'm looking for more humans to test on. And I've just so happened to run into you three.” He spoke calmly. “YOU FUCKING MANIAC!!! DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ALL HUMAN SOCIETY!? YOU FUCKED IT UP, THAT'S FOR DAMN SURE!!! I'LL KILL YOU! I'LL TEAR THE REST OF THAT HALF ASS OF A FACE YOU SEEM SO PROUD OF!!!” Cody began fighting off the men holding him, but he began getting shocked. Zach began fighting too, seeing him friend in pain and in need of help.
The mad doctor smiled as if nothing was happening. He really was a maniac, wasn't he? I was slowly lifted off the ground by the guards only to be pushed in the corner of the room. The men started leaving the room along with the doc. “Who... Who are you..?” Zach whimpered. He turned around towards us.
“You may call me Dr. Lopez.” My eyes widened along with the others. He looked down at me with a smirk while leaving. The door slammed shut after they had all left. I began to feel myself gaining control once more, the paralysis going away.
Cody ran over to me bringing me close to him. “We'll get out of here, I promise.” I hugged him back. “I hope so...” Zach stood up and walked towards me. “Tatiana... The docs name... Isn't your last name Lopez?” I looked up at him with silence. Cody pulled away, looking at me seriously. “What are you hiding from us, Tia?” They must be serious judging by their faces and tone of voice. I sighed knowing I wasn't able to back out on this.
“There's something you guys need to know, not only about me but my family...”
