I roll out of bed still feeling sleepy. I wasn't sure why I decided to go but I did anyway. Making a new friend won't be so bad, I thought. I mean, he's confident and talks a lot while I tend to not talk at all. Our personalities were different like that. But he was nice I guess, and pretty cute too.

When I finished getting ready I quickly made my way down the creaky, wooden stairs. "I'm gonna go have lunch with a friend," I told my parents as I walked towards the front door.

Dad looks up from the small t.v a little surprised, "you usually don't go out on Sundays," he says.

I shrug.

"It's a good change," mom smiles. "Bring her back here for some dinner later. I'm making your favourite," she winks.

"Kimchi fries?!" Mr eyes widen.

She laughs, "what else could it be?"

"You're the best!" I said excitedly before she told me to run off already.

Chan was waiting outside his gate for me. He watched as I walked over to him. "Here," he hands me a box of strawberry milk.

"Thanks." I unattached the straw to the box and pierced the silver cover.

We started walking south, towards the street markets which was about a ten minute walk.

Chan shoves his hands in his pockets. "Are you tired today? Do you want to meet my hyung's later? Or maybe Nari noona?"

"We can do whatever," I shrug.

He nods, "okay."

We walked in silence for a couple of blocks before he starts again. "Do you like working at the shop?" 

I nod then took a sip of my drink.

"And my father, is he a good teacher?" He sounded generally interested. Him and his father were similar in most ways. Their facial structures, the way they talk and even the way they walk. A little bit faster than average but enough to keep your breathing steady.

"He's nice," I say. "He takes care of us well and he can be funny sometimes."

He laughs, "you seem to like him more than my mother."

That caught me off guard. I think he's right. They were both really lovely, don't get me wrong. In fact I liked boss Lee a lot. It's just that I saw Mr Lee a lot more.

"Don't worry, I won't tell." He pretends to zip his mouth shut. "It'll be our little secret."

I give him a half closed smile before looking back ahead of me.

He let's out a small sigh. "Don't you like me?"

My feet start to slow.

He stands in front of me, looking a little bit more serious now. "You can say if you don't. I'll stop bothering you." He's a genuine boy.

I felt bad knowing I made him feel this way. I wasn't doing it on purpose I just didn't know how to keep a conversation going.

"Kang Aera," he says softly.
