Chapter Fifteen

A/N: Straight up took 5 times longer to find a meme for this chapter than actually writing it lmao

When you're desperately waiting for a day to come, it comes by slowly. When there's a day you're dreading to come, it comes fast and hits you like a bullet train.

The last couple of hours with Chan felt that way.

As I watched him happily bid his goodbyes to his parents, I wondered if he was sad to leave at all. Maybe he liked it over at the states better.

"We'll leave you two alone," boss Lee says. "We're getting too used to saying goodbye to this boy it feels like he's just going on a school trip. A long one." Her lips were trembling but she kept the smile on her face.

"Don't forget to message when you land," Mr Lee pats his son on the shoulder.

Chan nods once, "of course."

After that, the couple turns and walks away.

I look up at Chan who was not watching his parents as they exited the airport.

He was staring down at me instead.

It didn't feel real at all. Him leaving the country and me not seeing him tomorrow before and after school. It still feels like when I wake up in the morning, he'll be there, waiting.

"Are you going to miss me?" He asks.

The question targets the tears. I knew they weren't going to stop until I finally accept the fact that I won't ever see him again.

He pulls me into his chest and rests his chin on it. "Me too."

"Don't keep in contact with me," I tried to say as seriously as I could.

"Why?" His voice cracks.

"B-because." I can't breath. "It'll make me miss you even more." The words were painful to say, but I think he was receiving them a lot harder. "Let me forget about you for a while. But when you come back we can go back to how it was."

His grip around me loosens. He steps away and looks down at me. He was crying too.

I wiped my face with the sleeves of my hoodie. I then attempted to give him a smile.

"You look tragic and it's breaking my heart."

I shouldn't have laughed at that, but I did. "You're breaking my heart and it's tragic."
