Chapter Thirteen

Aera

In the last two months I got to know the two unnie's a lot more. I didn't see them often, but when I did, we picked everything up the way we left them. It was amazing that girls like them, pretty and very confident, could like a girl like me, shy and quiet.

Today we were getting smoothies at the mall while 'looking for some boyfriends.' Which actually meant just checking out cute boys and saying "mine!" when they walked past.

We found a small round table just at the edge of the cafeteria and watched as the people walked by.

"Did you see the guy with the skinny jeans?" Sunny unnie whispers. "That ass..."

We all start laughing hysterically.

Another guy walks by with a pink hoodie.

Nari unnie nudges me. "That guy looks totally your type. He's cute."

"Yeah!" Sunny unnie agrees. "Hurry up and go get his number!"

I shake my head aggressively. "No, I can't."

"Yes, you can." Sunny unnie stands up and goes after the guy. "Hey pinky! You! Oi!" She was shouting now and everyone around was starting to stare.

I put my face in my hands in embarrassment.

Nari unnie grabs my wrist, pulls me up then walks over to Sunny unnie who was now talking to the pink hoodie boy.

"Aera this is..." Sunny unnie gestures to the boy.

The boy bows awkwardly, "Bae Jinyoung."

"Bae," Nari unnie starts wiggling her eyebrows.

"This is my adorable friend, Kang Aera," Sunny unnie puts an arm over my shoulder.

The awkwardly tall boy smiles shyly. He was actually really cute up close.

"N-nice t-to me- meet y-you," I stuttered, my eyes dropping to the floor. I felt my palms starting to sweat.

"Okay, cool. You kids have fun." With that Sunny unnie starts walking off.

I look up panically at Nari unnie.

She waves goodbye then runs after her best friend.

I wanted to protest but I couldn't find the words to. I had no other choice but to look back at the boy who looked as confused as I was.

"So..." he started to say.

So...

"Your friend Sunny says that I think that you're cute," he chuckles.

"What?"

"Apparently when I walked by you girls, I looked at you and thought that you were cute." His voice was a little more confident now. "Is she a mind reader or something?" He rubs the back of his neck. "Because she's right..."

I started blushing hardcore. I opened my mouth to say thank you but I was cut off when I feel a heavy arm sling over my shoulder. I look up to see Chan glaring at Bae Jinyoung.

"Who are you?" He asks coldly.

"Bae Jinyoung. Who are you?" Jinyoung immediately shoots back.

"Her boyfriend, why?"

Jinyoung was taken aback and so was I.

Chan forcefully spins me around, pulls me close by the waist then leads me back to the round table where the two unnie's were.

I was kind of glad, that whole scene was uncomfortable anyway.

"Chan you idiot. What are you doing?" Nari unnie asks looking annoyed. "You just ruined her chance at getting a cute boyfriend!"
