"do you want to eat lunch with us! there's definitely a free seat for you—" a girl offered, but a boy cut her off, offering his friend groups table instead.
minho shakes his head, rejecting their offers. "s—sorry, but I think I'll be exploring more and getting familiar with the place."
"awe, come on man. you have a whole year to get familiar with the school. one lunch won't hurt."
minho shrugs, "maybe some other time. but thanks for the offer.."
one girl then clings onto his arm, minho's eyes widen startled from the action. "come on~ we can chat and we'll talk about anything you'd like. we don't bite."
the brunette politely pushes her off, "I—I'm gonna go to washroom. be right back!"
minho runs, he runs fast. he didn't need to pee or anything, but all he could say to himself was. "miss me with that het shit."
as he stops running, he opens the door to the library and decides to hide there. in the cliches, the popular kids didn't seem to hang out here. maybe because it was the definition of 'uncool', but minho was always in it for a good book.
walking towards the stairs to the second level of the library, he wanders around for a bit to see what selection they had. he was quite surprised, there were newspapers to recent magazines. a line of computers for students to use if needed so, and the amount of books they had was astounding. it was like his own little safe haven.
he decides to go into the poetry section, quick reads yet the stories were filled with words that hit right to the soul. he couldn't lie, poetry was literally 'beauty within words.'
as he sees a book that catches his eye, he's about to grab it until another hand grabs it as well. it comes from the other side of the shelf, so minho looks through. making awkward eye contact with their captivating eyes, the color of dark chocolate that minho had interest in. "y—you can have it.." minho offers, breaking the awkwardness. he lets go off the book, but the unknown person pushes the book towards him. to where it falls from the shelf and minho's cat like reflexes catches it.
"not bad, but it's yours. I've read it millions of times." the voice reassures, "hope you like it."
"w—wait! I've read this a couple times as well.." minho lies, just for the person to stay. "I've always had a thing for.. amanda lovelace's work.." minho awkwardly tells, looking at the author.
"so you've read 'to make monsters out of girls'?" he then questions, "if so, tell me about it then."
it's as if minho feels the person smirks, he hated being put on spot. especially in awkward situations like these where he couldn't press rewind. "w—well..ugh.."
"never read it? thought so." the presence starts to walk around the shelf, towards minho. the boy starts to get nervous, making a fool out of himself wasn't the way the go. "I'm not gonna ridicule you for it, but do me a favor and praise her work? it's a beautiful book."
once he's finally around and facing minho, he smiles. "hi—oh. wait, you seem new here. unfamiliar face, I know that because I'm apart of student council. but..I should know everyone due to myself being in student council. sorry for talking gibberish but I'm seungmin. kim seungmin to be clear."
"lee minho." he greets back, "I'm a new senior here, I'm currently hiding from the group of students who were trying to persuade me into sitting with them during lunch."
"well minho hyung, just don't mess with the wrong people. some of these kids only like others due to their looks and status. got to watch out alright?"
minho nods, "definitely. I like you, you're cool."
"thanks!" seungmin says with a bright smile, "never get that a lot. people say student council is run by snobby students who are snitches. but ensuring that students follow the rules are simply just my duty, so not my problem."
"agree, but hey? want to show me around, I've been needing a tour from someone who's familiar with the school. and also, I recently just switched my art class to advance dance. so today I have to know the room or else I'll be lost tomorrow."
"oh I've got you covered, if you noticed within halls there is a plague for each wing. right now, we're near the eight hundred wing. you'll get it down quickly."
"that's a relief. but you're the first person who hasn't stared at me in awe saying, 'wow you're so handsome!' I appreciate that."
seungmin smiles, "I can't say something to someone who has already acknowledged it. I'm sure you already know how good looking you are so why make such a big deal out of it?"
"that's what I'm saying!" minho somewhat says a bit too loudly, "I'm not trying to be narcissistic or anything. I see myself as a pretty attractive person but when people just attack you with the same words over and over again, it's like that's the only thing they see within me."
"I get that. but hey, once you get comfortable people won't care about how good looking you are. it's all about what's inside right?" seungmin questions, he then furrows his brows, "I swear to day-six if you're a fake I'm dropping you faster than kevin moon dropped his cake."
"w—what? dropping? moon and cake?" confusion fills minho's voice, "is there something I missed."
"boy named kevin moon dropped his birthday cake his friends bought for him. it didn't end well."
"okay that makes much more sense." minho then looks at seungmin, "how long did the cake last?"
seungmin shrugs, "I would say probably longer than any of the guys here in bed. but still, not that long."
"oh...WAIT WHAT!"
"shh! this is a library man, pull yourself together."
