as the time of their date finally arrived, jisung exits his home to walk on his way over to his stated destination. he's somewhat nervous, heart beating as if he's running a marathon but in reality he's simply walking down the street of his neighborhood. he clutches onto the leftover sleeve of his shirt, playing with the fabric as he tries to relieve himself. it somewhat works, but it's not good enough.
jisung can't claim if he's romantic or not because one, he's never been endorsed in a forming romantic relationship ever before. how should he know how these things work? the cliches were obviously not a good source for him to learn but what if it was too awkward between them? he had quite the big mouth but he learned that when it came to minho, he should be careful with his words. especially due to the boy being sensitive since the beginning of their meeting. "I'm sure things will be alright." as jisung tries to stick to this mindset, he really hopes things do go well though.
but as the destination comes closer and of course clearer, he swore he saw minho fixing up a picnic blanket from afar. if he was wrong, he definitely needed to get his eyes checked. walking a bit faster, the male didn't seem to notice jisung and he sits down. jisung automatically guesses he's waiting for the boy so his pace increases by just a tad. as he's getting closer, jisung calls out his name. "minho!" he yells once, it doesn't catch his attention so the volume of his voice crescendos.
the brunette whips his head to see jisung running towards his set spot, he cracks a wide smile and moves aside on the blanket. patting an empty spot just for him. the younger male pants from the unexpected exercise and smiles, "I didn't expect you to be this early." the time is six twenty one, jisung wouldn't lie. he left a bit early just to freak out and calm himself before their date.
"as humans we tend to overthink, I came here a bit early to of course one, set up and tell myself everything would be okay. the breeze somewhat calmed me so it was all good in the end." minho admits, jisung's quite glad that him and the older boy are on the same page. "but sit, I brought us some snacks and I'll play music. I wanted to spend some special time with you."
jisung kicks off his shoes before stepping on the picnic blanket, sitting next to the boy with a reasonable distance he chuckles, "quite the romantic aren't you?" he teases just as things begin.
"felix and hyunjin helped me with the idea. I'll be thanking them right after this." he tells, minho whips out his phone to pick a suitable playlist for their soothing evening.
as the music partakes to be one of their sounds that fills their ears, jisung scratches his head nervously. "I know this evening isn't about them but I actually set them up on a date together."
minho's eyes widen with shock, his mouth slightly opens as he smiles. "woah, really? when did you get that thought?"
jisung shrugs, "hyunjin is probably struggling with love and felix is the best person who can comfort him. but, I think they have good wavelengths when it comes to them being together."
"mr. matchmaker here aren't we?" he teases back as revenge, "but do wavelengths necessarily define if people are good for each other or not. it's like you're basing your relationship off your horoscopes or something."
"I just want hyunjin to feel loved. since seungmin did say his feelings are platonic towards him." jisung shortly explains, "felix I feel seemed like a good option for him to get things off his mind."
"I guess that's reasonable. but you should ask how it went after this, I want to talk about us. or more or you." minho replies, "I...really like you.. but I feel as if we should get to know each other more."
"and I will say that's valid." the squirrel boy shifts in his position and becomes more comfortable before speaking. he decides to lay on his stomach and thinks, "well, I will ask this. what do you want to know?"
"anything!" minho says a bit too enthusiastically, "I'll be interested in anything..." as he settles down a bit.
"you're cute, but I'll start off basic. I actually came from Malaysia and my English skills are pretty good not to brag."
minho's eyebrows lift, "can you say something in English for me?"
"tell me baby." as jisung playfully winks, minho feels his own ears burn up without any hesitation. he didn't understand what the younger said but he will say his voice was attractive when speaking another language. "you're hot."
minho whips his head to cover his blush, "okay, go back to Korean." he clears his throat and turns his head back, "tell me more."
"I like the color red, my favorite season is winter. and I like horror movies, but the weird thing that contradicts that is I get scared really easily. me going in a haunted house would literally be my death wish."
minho lets out a chuckle, "that's adorable. we should go when halloween comes around."
"only if you protect me." jisung comments, "if not I could never."
"I'd protect you without any hesitation."
jisung tilts his head, squinting his eyes slightly as he gives him a wide smile. "in all seriousness where did you learn to be so romantic. it's killing me."
minho shrugs, "I don't know. the words just slip out when I'm with you."
"now that's just plain adorable." as jisung clutches the part of his shirt that hovers over where his heart is placed, "I'm touched really."
"I'm glad." minho switches positions and lays on his stomach as well to become closer with jisung, "anything else you wanna say?"
jisung examines the boy, he stares into his eyes which he immediately regrets due to him internally panicking. he swore the boy held millions of stars in his eyes, he was highly jealous due to his beauty. but his eyes wander all over minho, he simply took the time to appreciate the boy's beauty for the time they had together. "jisung?"
"yeah..."
"you're staring at me." minho of course states the obvious which only leads jisung bursting out laughing.
"well duh, I wasn't trying to hide it." he admits without any fear, "you're just really pretty. hot yet beautiful. I should punch my dumbass self for wanting to hate you forever."
minho smiles softly, patting jisung's head as his hands begin to run through his hair. "is my name still pretty boy?" implying his contact name on the younger's phone.
jisung nods, "never changed it." he looks at minho then down to the picnic blanket awkwardly playing with the fabric, "it was the first nice thing I've said to you I believe, so why change it."
"you're so cheesy." as minho shakes his head, yet still approves of the name. "I don't know, you can change it to something else if you'd like."
jisung shrugs and decides to think about it, the name was a fond memory anyways. "I feel like I should say something specific in order for this to go somewhere."
"catching on aren't you han?"
"I'm not that dense." jisung states, "maybe a little, but what should I change it to pretty boy?"
he takes a second to collect himself before confidently saying the word, "mine." minho's smile widens and he chuckles as he watches jisung's reaction. "because I'd love to be yours. that's why we're out here on this date, so I could ask you properly rather than leaving you with just a kiss."
jisung's eyes widen, his smile immediately forms as he hears his words. "really? you really mean it?"
"I conform to your request for no reason, you think I'm that much of an asshole to play with your feelings?" minho questions, jisung only stays quiet. "so what do you say lover boy?"
"before I'm gonna say my answer, just saying hyunjin is not going to shut up about this."
"and why does hyunjin matter?"
"because," the squirrel boy begins, moving closer to the older to kiss him on the cheek. "he told me one day a pretty boy would snatch my heart and it'll all be over for me, and it finally happened today."
"so, yes?"
"yes, you can be mine. pretty boy."
