excusing himself from the table, hyunjin messages seungmin to meet him in the three hundred wing. he felt somewhat idiotic for impulsively agreeing to their idea, but the boys were right. hyunjin hasn't tried asking seungmin if he wanted a romantic relationship, specifically with him. but, if he was turned down. he already acknowledged that he shouldn't bring rage to the table, but accept his feelings due to not wanting to force something upon the boy. relationships can't be one sided, they should never be.
but, it would hurt. a lot. did he have the stability to not break down in front of seungmin if things didn't go well? he wasn't sure of himself at all.
hyunjin arrives in the three hundred wing first, patiently yet anxiously waiting for seungmin. his ears weren't ready to hear the footsteps that would come down from the nearby hallway, he felt tense and sweat forming on his forehead to his underarm. he was wishing for the best, he knew his friends were too.
but it isn't too long until seungmin arrives, he straightens his posture. walking towards the boy he greets him with a light smile, "hey, thanks for coming."
"yeah..." as seungmin replies, "so, is this something important? I need to help hiro with paper work..." hyunjin watches as the boy didn't make any eye contact with him, voice softer as if he was tired of their conversation already.
"o—oh...should we talk a different time then?"
"well, we are already here." seungmin points out, "let's not waste any more time so spill hwang."
"it's kinda serious, so I hope you don't mind." seungmin doesn't respond, hyunjin only assumes he's listening from now on. "uh, so..." hyunjin scratches his head anxiously, "you know..."
"I know?"
"I—I like you a lot!.." he finally blurts, covering his mouth right after although this was apart of his unplanned plan. "I can't keep it from you forever, we are friends after all..." he admits, feeling the weight lift yet heart beat quickly from the tense moment.
seungmin finally looks at the boy, his eye's expression filled with confusion yet relief. "really?..so, what about you and felix..?"
"we're not a thing!" he immediately clarifies, his words come out a bit too boldly, a bit too loud for seungmin's liking. "jisung thought it would be good to have someone else take...you..off my mind... I don't think he was aware felix and changbin are having their own complications.."
seungmin nods from his explanation, "so..it's not you and felix?"
"no!" hyunjin shakes his head, "never!"
"okay.."
"o—okay?" hyunjin repeats, "that's all you have to say?" his eyes widen from his strong tone, "I didn't mean it in a rude way, I just need..a better response. it's okay if you don't like me, I really am not expecting much..."
seungmin felt out of place to bring up his own feelings, how he wanted to be with hyunjin yet a part of him shouted how he didn't seem like a suitable partner for him. yet, here he is, confessing his feelings and seungmin was lost. guilt hit him as he didn't give an answer so quickly, "hyunjin..."
"I get it, you're not into me. also, school and relationships don't mix. I get it..."
"no, it's not that." seungmin waves his hands, denying his words. "yeah, I agree that school and relationships don't mix well yet..."
"yet, what?"
seungmin shrugs, becoming frustrated of the words flowing from his mouth, "I—I don't know hyunjin!"
"so...no.."
"it's not a no!"
"so it's a yes?"
seungmin pouts, unsure of what to say now. it was either a yes, or a simple no. "I—I feel guilty if I say yes. I feel like I put you through too much, how long have you liked me for hyunjin?"
"a while." he tells, "don't feel guilty, I don't want you feeling that way."
"how can I not?" seungmin questions, yet he doesn't want an answer. "I called our relationship platonic one time and I bet that crushed you."
the boy looks away, not wanting to agree with his statement knowing it'll make things even worse, "well—"
"see!" as seungmin rests his case, "I feel like...I don't deserve you in that way."
"seungmin.." hyunjin whispers, he wanted to calm him down and give him an abundance of reassurance. "it's fine, love..hurts. you don't have to say yes, I'm okay with that."
"but—"
"but what?"
"I don't know..." he answers, feeling once again pathetic. "I'm scared to commit to this, what if I do something wrong. I'm so afraid of telling you my true feelings.."
"what are..your true feelings?" he questions out of curiosity, "don't answer if you're uncomfortable though."
I want you. "I...I can't say right now."
hyunjin smiles, he's somewhat disappointed but can't beat the truth out of him. "how about this? I'll give you some time, think about it and I'll be waiting."
"hyunjin—"
"it's okay." he reassures, patting his head. "I promise, now I'll let you go. hiro might scold you for taking too long."
seungmin nods, not wanting to cause any more trouble for the boy. he watches hyunjin walk off in the opposite direction, the brunette's head falls down once he's out of his sight. sighing, seungmin only whispers to himself,
"you're pathetic."
