Third P.O.V.
Mei still couldn't believe that she had been given another chance. But there it was, and all she had to do was follow in her steps that she had made in her "previous life". As time went on, she continued to get close to (Y/n), even though she was already so infatuated with him. Every time Mei was around him, he would start having an aching headache and would say something that would bring back memories to her. Either it be a phrase that she had said to him or him to her. He told her about these headaches and that he had dreams of her many times a week. Not bad dreams, but dreams of her smile. Mei was confused, about how he was able to see her smile in his dreams. He would go on to explain that his dreams, although a dark void of nothingness, he could make out the outlines of shapes and things around him. And every time the dream was about to end, he'd notice the outline of her. Grown up, looking down at him. She never said anything to him in his dreams, but she would sometimes tell him of the adventures that they had together. From shopping to watching a movie on the couch. (Y/n) wouldn't tell the Mei who was always around him that he would sometimes yell at the Mei in his dreams, about how he would never let her choose him as her partner. He was still young, and these things didn't make sense to him at all. Not until they began to happen, as his feelings developed for her as they grew older. He couldn't let himself tell her how he really felt, the months leading up to his graduation. With all the events that had transpired ever since he woke up, he still couldn't believe everything that his dreams would tell him. Until Mei chose to break the past decisions made and took him out one winter evening. They were going to be walking around a park, looking at the pretty light decorations. She held his hand and walked closely to him the whole night, describing how pretty the lights were, and how many people were out there admiring them. She took (Y/n) off to a more private place in the park, and luckily found a bench to sit on. She had her face him and held his hands in hers. (Y/n) could only guess where her eyes were as she stuttered and couldn't say what she had brought him out there to say. But instead, she was surprised by (Y/n).
"Mei... thank you for everything that you do for me. I really can't thank you enough"
"P-Please! You do more than you know, I'm just glad that I was able to bring you out here tonight. I wish you could see all the lights and decorations that are around us"
"Mei...""Y-Yes?! What do you need?"
"I, I'm in love with you"
Mei was taken aback and didn't know how to respond. So instead of saying something, she pulled (Y/n) closer to her and buried her head into his chest. She resisted from crying, although she was bursting with joy. Not knowing exactly what to do, he sat there and held her close to himself. This moment only began to show him that the memories that he was told about in his dreams were the truth. Mei held him close for the rest of the night, knowing well that his parents already knew what would be happening between the two of them. She had tried her best to explain to them what events had transpired in her "previous life", and that she was going to make sure not to make the same mistakes again. With that, (Y/n)'s parents were happily accepting Mei as part of their family. Even more so from before. She still refused to tell anyone else about the incidents and events that had plagued their previous lives, and now she would never have to. She felt that the differences would cause enough room for her to begin rewriting her life with (Y/n). And she wasn't all too wrong. Talon never called him about getting his eyes back and she had stayed by his side the night that he graduated from Zenyatta's ceremony. Everything was going right in her world, for now. She was still worried about what his response would be to join the Overwatch team. He had been dragged into doing it due to losing his senses after being frozen by her frost gun. Even the thought made her anxiety grow out of proportion. But still, it had to be done properly this time. And as the year went on when she was supposed to be approached with the rest of her friends, she made sure to have him with her. And she was right to, it was on an afternoon in the spring when the group had decided to go out to a café. The brothers were drinking tea, Angela had a coffee in her hand and Jesse was still "discussing" having alcohol mixed into his drink. Mei was in the works of cooling down her hot chocolate. (Y/n) was sitting there peacefully, either not being thirsty or too happy to be able to sense his surroundings again with the snow melting. The Overwatch agent would be walking up the hill when (Y/n) notified everyone that someone was coming their way, instead of the normal path that would've led into the coffee shop. Jesse would be leaving the interior of the shop at this time, after being denied anything alcoholic. Mei was ready for this moment, and even though no one else could remember this moment, they acted as if they were too. The agent greeted (Y/n) as he was a good coworker to his mother, and politely asked him to not listen to what he was going to propose to the others. Mei stepped in and fought for (Y/n) to have a spot on the team with the rest of them. Angela stood up first and agreed with Mei. The brothers followed, and Jesse then began to understand what was going on. He put his arm around (Y/n) and began to go on and on about how (Y/n) would always be a part of their group no matter what. The agent had nothing against letting (Y/n) join, but he knew that Winston and 76 would have very different feelings about the blind one joining them. This made Winston start on the blind technology early, and 76 had time to train (Y/n) to become better fit for a soldier. Mei watched him grow and watched as his personality would begin to become hard around others. She feared what he would do, until Winston finally finished the technology for (Y/n). That's when she saw him the way he originally was. He was bright, and his emotions glowed through the room. But in front of the other soldiers, he was forced to act strong, and he didn't fail in that area. But when they retired to her room in the evening, there he was again. Optimistic about his life, and happily hers. It upset her that he couldn't be happy around the others, but there were moments when it was just the original group. They would laugh, sing, and relax together like they used to. Months would go by until Mei and the others finally graduated, and that gave enough time for 76 to form (Y/n) into a fine young soldier, and convinced Winston to give the "O.K." for (Y/n) to embark on missions. Of course, when (Y/n) told Mei, she made sure Winston knew that she would not tolerate it if he had sent (Y/n) off without her. Trying to avoid getting frozen, he simply told her that he would never send (Y/n) off on his own and gave her his word. Time was flying past their eyes. And new adventures replaced the ones they couldn't relive. Jesse had come up with the idea of them all banding together in a team of six to take on missions together. Mei was scared, but (Y/n) assured her that is was alright, and as the days went on, their team was finally able to go out on a mission.
