-Third Person POV-
Those who get lost in the woods, tend to have the greatest of adventures. This one starts with a girl. She is lying unconscious on the forest floor, as if sleeping peacefully for an evening nap. She slightly stirs because of a cold breeze blowing through. Her eyes flutter open, but soon grow wide. She stands up and looks around, fear written on her face. She is wearing a cape that helps her against the cold. She grabs the edge of her cloak and pulls it towards her. She looks around quickly, the fear growing inside her.
"Where am I?" she mumbled, trying to stay calm. The darkness seemed to be trying to reach her, but the sunlight from the tree canopy broke through and looked as if to be fighting it off. She looked around and found a path, going deeper into the woods. Slowly, she starts making her way down the path, making the leaves crunch under foot. As she went, the light grew thinner and thinner as they went. Soon, it was too dark to see, but she could still see the path a bit in front of her. She slowed her walking down and kept walking. Suddenly, the air grows cold, and she suddenly can see her breath. She turns around quickly, and can see a pair of eyes. The eyes were a light yellow, and glowed like lanterns in the dark. A thin branch seemed to reach out towards her like a hook. She slowly started stepping away, and when the branch lashed out, cutting her cheek, she made a run for it.
She ran as fast as she could, not caring where she was going. She just needed to get away from whatever that THING was. She ran, branches whipping and scratching her face as she pushed past. She looked to her right and saw that, whatever it was, wasn't chasing her anymore. She tried to stop running, but it was too late. She hit a slope, and started tumbling down the hill. It was like the darkness was spinning around her, making her sick. She closed her eyes, praying for it to stop. Suddenly, she hit level ground and slammed into something.
Well, someone.
"Oof!" she heard, when she finally stopped. She opened her eyes but couldn't see anything because of the darkness. She heard the sound of feet, rushing away from her, and standing up. A beam of light flashed in front of her, blinding her for a minute. "Who are you?!" she heard a worried, male voice say. She placed her hand over her eyes, shielding them from the glare. But before she could see who it is, she heard a little boy's voice say, "Wirt! It's Susan!"
The person moved the light, which turned out to be a flashlight. The person holding the flashlight made Susan's eyes grow wide. It was Wirt, a classmate of hers that she has had a crush on for a while. He wore a tall, red, pointed hat. He wore a dark blue cloak, that had gold buttons buttoned over a white shirt with and grey pants. He wore black shoes, and his brown hair was poking out from the hat. His brown eyes were filled with confusion and worry as he looked at Susan. She then noticed the little boy next to him, and couldn't help but smile.
This little boy was Gregory, Wirt's little brother. She knew him because he was always nice to her when others weren't so much. He was wearing, for some reason, an upside tea kettle on his head. It was silver and looked pretty new. He also wore green overalls that looked like they were stuffed with something. He wore a white shirt underneath the overalls, and wore white socks and black shoes like his brother. He had a little brown bag around his shoulder, and was holding a rather large frog. He had large, curious brown eyes, and his brown hair was as messy as his brothers.
Gregory came over to her, and helped her up. "What are you doing here, Susan?" he asked, looking at her. "Gregory, stay away from 'Scary' Susan," he said, scorning Gregory. Susan flinched at this nickname. Ever since Susan started school when she moved there this past fall, she's been given that nickname because of her weird looks. Her hair was a deep red color, sort of like a dying ember color. Her eyes were a pale blue color, as if they were the shallow part of the ocean on a beach. Her hair was slightly curly, but enough to get looks from other kids. She was as tall as Wirt, but still had the fun nature of little Gregory. This is how she got the nickname 'Scary' Susan, and an incident that only set this nickname in stone.
