Hey guys! Third chapter, here we go! :D

-3rd Person POV-

Susan yawned; they had been walking all night, not stopping once so that they could get to the town quickly. She curled her hand and flinched at the pain; it still hurt. She needed to get some water to clean the cut, but they haven't had time to stop. She glanced up and noticed that the sky was getting brighter; the sun must be coming up.

"It's almost morning," Wirt said, breaking the silence, "We should've found the town by now. This is the way the Woodsman told us to go right?"

Susan nodded, yawning. "He said to follow the path. And we haven't wandered off of it, so we should be okay."

Just then, Gregory blew another raspberry for the probably hundredth time that day. Susan lifted her cape enough it avoid the splash zone of the raspberry. "Haven't you guys been listening to what I've been saying?" he said, "I've been saying," then he blew another raspberry.

"Well, that settles it," said Wirt, "I'm going to be walking ten feet ahead of you." He moved ten feet ahead, leaving Susan with Gregory and his toad. She looked at Greg, "Any names yet?"

He shook his head, "No not yet."

"Help!"

They both stopped, looking around. Greg looked at Susan, "Did you say something?"

She shook her head, just as they heard, "I'm stuck!"

"Whatever it is, I can hear it too, Greg," she said, looking around. By now, the sun had come up, shining on the path and making the shadows seem to flee. She started to look around, not seeing anything out of the ordinary. She turned back around and yelled to Wirt, "Hey Wirt! We heard something!"

"It was probably nothing," he said, not really paying that much attention. Something caught his eye and he ran towards it. Susan and Greg followed. When they reached him, they saw a sign nailed to a tree. It said:

Pottsfeild, One Mile

"'Pottsfeild, one mile!'" Wirt read, excited, "A town! let's go this way!" He pointed in the direction the arrow sign was pointing. "Yeah, let's go!" said Greg, running in the opposite direction. Wirt sighed irritated, "not-ugh..."

"Come on, let's go get him," Susan said, indicating that they should hurry. Susan and Wirt went after Greg, Susan getting to Greg first. He seemed to be talking to a bush, but when she got closer, she saw the same Blue bird from before.

"It doesn't have to be a magical tiger," Greg said, just as Wirt came up behind Susan.

"Greg, stop talking to a bush," he said, still irritated.

"Okay," he said, freeing the bird. The bird flew up from the bush and landed on a nearby branch. "Thanks," she said, "I owe you a favor."

Susan looked at the bird, curiously, "So, your a blue bird?"

She nodded, "Yes, I am. So um, you three are lost kids with no purpose in life?"

"Yep," said greg, before any of them could answer. Wirt looked annoyed, but Susan said quickly, "Actually, we're just trying to get home quickly."

"Well, in that case, you won't make it," she said pointing at Susan. Susan flinched; what the heck was that suppose to mean?! But before she could say anything, The bird turned to Greg and said, "How about I take you two to Adelaide of the Pasture, the Good woman of the woods? She could help you get you guys home."

"We won't leave without Susan," Greg said, walking over to her and taking her hand with his free one. Susan smiled at Greg, "Thanks Greg."

The blue bird seemed to hesitate, but finally grunted, saying, "Fine. But if you slow me down-"

"How on earth will I do that?" Susan asked, starting to get irritated.

"Were not going to this lady of the woods," Wirt said, interrupting, "I'm heading to Pottsfeild."

He started walking back into the direction of the town. Susan and Greg started to follow. "yeah, we're going to Pottsfeild. Come on," he said to the Blue bird

"What about that favor?" she asked, flying from her branch over Susan's and Greg's heads.

"I'll think about it."

The blue bird grunted and not that much later, they came across a dirt path, filled with large orange pumpkins. Susan smiled; finally some more color besides the greens and browns of trees and leaves. As they walked, following Wirt, Greg started talking to the blue bird, "So let's small talk. My name is Greg. What's yours?"

"Beatrice," she replied.

"My brother's name is Wirt, and this is Susan."

"First off who cares about your brother's name," she said, getting an irritated look from Wirt, "Second, Susan is a terrible name."

"Well, I can't help being named Susan," Susan said, starting to get irritated. Beatrice seemed to shrug her shoulders, as greg continued, "And my frog's name is Wirt Jr. but that may change."

"Okay that's great. How about you and I ditch your brother and his girlfriend?"

Susan and Wirt turned on the spot, nearly yelling:

"She's not my girlfriend!"

"I'm not his girlfriend!"

"Geez, chill," Beatrice said, sounding a bit surprised. Wirt spun back around and continued walking a bit faster then before. Susan kept her head down, trying to hide the blush on her face. Greg continued the conversation, as if nothing happened, "Mh, maybe later. So is it nice being a bird?"

"No," Beatrice said flat out, making it sound like she wanted to drop it.

"Oh. Do you like waffles?"

"No. Waffles make me sick. I eat...m-maggots," Beatrice said, with a bit of hesitation. Susan took note of that and pondered it for a bit. "Ahh!" Greg said, making Susan jump and losing her train of thought.

"What?" said Beatrice, confused.

"How can you not eat waffles?!" Just then, their was a squish and Greg yelled. Beatrice flew higher in the air, starting panic, "What?!"

"I stepped on a pumpkin!" he said, having a pumpkin on his foot. Susan wasn't paying attention and she also stepped on a pumpkin as well. She shook it off and went to help Greg, when Wirt said, "Aha! Civilization!" She turned and, sure enough, their was a town not that far from where they were at. "Now-" he said, but he stepped in a pumpkin as well. He shook it off his foot and said, "All right. Let's go rejoin civilization."

They all followed, Greg having a hard time walking with the pumpkin on his foot still. As they walked into the town, nobody seemed to live in the town. Susan glanced over her shoulder from time to time, just to make sure nobody was following them.

"Hello? Hello? Hmm. See anybody?" Wirt said, looking at Susan. She shook her head and Greg said, "Noo...oh! I see you!"

"I see you too, Greg," Wirt said.

"Hey, not to be obnoxious," Beatrice said, making Susan cough under her breath 'yes you are', "but an abandoned ghost town doesn't seem like it's gonna be that useful getting you guys home."

"Gee, thanks for remembering me, Beatrice," Susan said, glaring at Beatrice, who returned that glare. Wirt cleared his throat irritated and went to a nearby house to check is anybody was their. At that moment, Greg went over to a haystack and jumped in it. Wirt came back, and Beatrice asked, "Did you find anything?"

"No. Where's Greg?" he asked, looking at Susan. Just then, Greg poked his head out of the hay, saying, "Do you hear that?"

They all stopped and listened; Greg was right. Their was music and the sound of dancing come from a barn. Susan didn't like the sound of it, but everybody started heading that way. She slowly followed, but couldn't get the feeling of something bad was about to happen to go away.

How little did she know that she was right.
