Hey guys! Chapter five is here so let's jump in! :D
-Susan's POV-
"I don't know who she is," sang Greg, "or how she is or when, what, why she is, but as for where she is, she is where we will go. To Adelaide! To Adelaide! Come on and join the Adelaide Parade!" We were walking along another path on the woods, Beatrice flying over head, Greg walking along a low stone wall, and Wirt and I walking along the dirt path.
"No," said Beatrice and Wirt. I looked at Greg and smiled, "I'll join in."
Greg smiled, and continued singing, "Adelaide, to Adelaide, let's go to Adelaide's house." I looked at Greg, confused by the last part of the song. "I need to fix that last part. But that's the idea. So Beatrice, you sing the high part. Wirt, you sing the REALLY high part. and Susan and I can sing the regular part."
I laughed but Beatrice seemed a little annoyed with Greg. "Nobody is singing anything anymore."
"Beatrice, don't be such a downer," I commented, skipping along with Greg. She ignored me and yelled at Wirt, "Wirt, keep moving."
"But I- I have to...ugh, All right," he said, standing up from tying his shoes. I glanced at Wirt; if he didn't tie his shoes soon, he's going to trip over the shoe.
"But we have to do something fun!" Greg said. I smiled; Greg, the happy innocent child.
"You know, we really don't. We can just keep walking silently, you know?" said Beatrice. I rolled my eyes, and Beatrice was about to say something when Wirt stopped again, and she stopped. "Wirt! Let's go!"
"Sorry, sorry," he said, getting back up and walking to catch up.
"But shouldn't we-" Greg started, but Beatrice cut him off. "Greg, don't you want to be more like your brother- just always doing what your told?"
"Huh?" Wirt and I said.
"Just a pathetic pushover who relies on others to make all his decisions?"
"Hey! what? I'm not a pushover!" Wirt said, trying to stand up for himself. I glanced between Beatrice and Wirt; fighting already? No surprise there.
"Hold on Wirt. Let me get to my point."
Wirt scoffed, but said, "fine."
"See Greg? No willpower whatsoever."
"Hmph!" Wirt said, annoyed. I glared at Beatrice, "He doesn't have to be a pushover. And Wirt is not a pushover."
"And you certainly don't want to be like Susan- a rebel, a delinquent, and terrible person."
"She's not a terrible person!"
"Only somebody as terrible as her would be chased by the Beast."
I stood where I was frozen with shock by this terrible comment. I looked at Greg and Wirt for help, but they didn't say anything.
"You guys don't think I'm a terrible person right?" I asked, nervous for the answer.
"Of course not! your great!" said Greg, who connoted along the path. I looked at Wirt, who didn't say anything. I sighed; am I really a bad person?
"We'll just focus on getting you two, plus this rebel, to Adelaide's so I can wash my hands clean of this whole affair. And if you could pick up the pace, that'd be great, okay?" said Beatrice. I sighed irritated; if only she could fly away and leave us be.
"Hey, where;s Greg?" she asked, looking at me.
I looked around. Sure enough, he wasn't on the low, stone wall. He had disappeared. I was super worried about him, but my anger was still fresh towards Beatrice. "I don't know. Your a bird, don't you have a bird's eye view up there?" I asked.
