This story takes place before Newt and Tina were dating, when Tina was still dating Achilles.

Tina slowly wandered down into Newt's basement. She was looking for Newt to tell him that she and Achilles were going to go out. She wasn't sure why it mattered but she felt she had to tell Newt. She looked around the basement, unsure of where Newt was. She had checked all the enclosures but the one no one was allowed near. It was the Nundu enclosure, or one of them.

Newt had two Nundus. One of them was the one that had been in his case when had visited New York. This one was calm. Newt had rescued it when it was just a cub so it trusted him completely. However, the second one was not friendly in the slightest. Newt had told Tina that he had rescued it a few months before from a group that had captured it and brought it to England to perform experiments on it. It had been in really bad shape when Newt had brought it home and he had nursed it back to health. Unfortunately, the Nundu didn't appreciate it and was a very hostile creature.

Tina let out a long breath.

Where is he? Even he doesn't spend much time in that enclosure.

Suddenly, a scream tore through the basement. It broke off as suddenly as it had started, almost as if someone had clapped their hand over the mouth of the person screaming. Fear flooded Tina's mind.

That was Newt! she realized. And it was coming from the direction of the Nundu's enclosure.

Pulling out her wand, Tina darted towards the enclosure and looked inside. Newt was lying face down on the ground, his shirt red with blood. The Nundu was on the other side of the enclosure. It was crouched down, ready to pounce on Newt's motionless body.

"No!" Tina called. She raised her wand, creating a shield between Newt and the growling creature. The creature pounced, bouncing off the invisible barrier. It stumbled backward, stunned.

Tina rushed over to Newt. He was moving slightly and his breath was uneven. She rolled him over and he groaned.

The Nundu growled again. He looked ready to attack so Tina quickly slipped her arms under Newt's and dragged him backward out of the enclosure. Her back hit a wall and she slumped to the ground, Newt's back leaning against her chest. She could hear him mumbling something.

"Newt," she breathed, moving out from under him and letting him lean against the wall. "Newt, what is it."

Newt's lips moved but he could barely hear what he was saying. She could only make out two words.

"Dittany . . . Office . . . Dittany."

"Right," Tina said. There were tears streaming down her face. "Right, it'll be fine, Newt. Everything will be fine."

She got to her feet and cast a spell to levitate Newt. He floated face down behind her as she hurried to his office. When she entered the room, she cleared off a desk and cast a cushioning charm on it. Letting Newt settle face down on the desk, she began rummaging through the bottles on a shelf. She finally found a bottle labeled 'Essence of Dittany'.

Turning back to Newt she shakily began to open the bottle. Then she realized she needed to remove Newt's shirt. Ignoring the blush forming on her cheeks, she tugged his shirt out of his pants. It already had a huge rip across it so she used a severing charm to cut it in two. Then she pushed it out of the way to reveal the long gash in Newt's back.

Tina opened the bottle of Dittany. Carefully, she began to drip the contents in the cut. She was relieved to see skin forming over the gash. Newt's erratic breathing slowed, achieving a more even pattern.
