Chapter Two: The Pack

"Zai, you got to get up. We're leaving."
My eyes were heavy and thick. I could barely open them thanks to crying myself to sleep. Immediately, the news from yesterday flooded back into my thoughts. Remembering yesterday wasn't the only worst thing I had to wake up to. When my eyes finally registered my surroundings, I could feel a frown form on my face.
"Hales? Why is our stuff packed?," I asked, confused. Our room was stripped clean and the only thing in it besides us were the luggages waiting by the door. She sighed with the same look on her face that I had - We're moving. Unfortunately, we have to leave. It's.. no longer safe for us here.
I was about to protest, but nothing in me could push me to speak. Instead, I was more concerned about the uneasiness Haley's presence brought me. There was some type of power that was radiating off of her.. It came in waves. It made something inside me frustrated and I couldn't handle how that felt. It was like I needed to be more dominant..
I sighed,"Where are we going?"
Before long, we were packed and saying bye to the life we lived just yesterday. It was hard as it was but the minute Nate came by, my heart broke. I had to break up with him over the phone, but Nate wouldnt accept it and drove here as we were leaving. I hated myself for leaving him the way I did, but I was left with no choice. It was as if my life turned upside down.. The only person I could rely on was Haley and we had to be strong for each other.
Apparently, this was necessary. The whole point of us being raised from other people was to keep us safe and out of danger. For me, it didnt matter anymore. I felt dead inside.. still lost at who I was.
The car ride was long and silent. Nickolai and Elise, the parents that raised us, tried their best but after numerous attempts, decided to just drive us to our destination. I couldnt look them in the eyes. I was hurt and I knew Haley was too. They had to understand why we would still be upset with them. After an extremely long and uncomfortable road trip, we finally pulled up to a house.
I wouldn't even consider it a house! It had to be a mansion or a hotel due to its size. Despite the tension in the car, I couldnt help but stare at it in awe.
"It's time for your meeting with the Alpha and his Beta. I know it will be hard, but.. try to control your wolves. Don't challenge him and remember to remain polite," Nickolai warned softly as we exited the vehicle. There was nothing more to do or say so we nodded and followed in tow. As we reached the front door, it opened before he had a chance to knock.
A man about the same age as Nickolai, stepped out. He was dressed professionally and looked a little intimidating even. It didnt help that he was towering over us due to his height. Despite the power that emanated off from him, he did nothing but smile warmly at us while his eyes gleamed with curiosity.
"The Alpha is expecting you," he said in a deep voice. He led us into the mansion and easily, my jaw dropped. The outside was pretty, but the inside was outstanding! The decor and curtains gave it a goddess feeling and the colors of the furniture were kept light. It was so clean inside that you could tell instantly this place was expensive. Although it did scream high end, there was also something calming about it.
As we entered the mansion, there were people everywhere. It was obvious as day that it grew silent once we walked in. There was no doubting that all eyes were glued to us as we were led in further. As we passed, I did notice the scent that engulfed the place. It made me realize that every one here was what Haley and I were. They were werewolves too.
