For Saiko's birthday, she decided to get herself a female-oriented dating simulator, since she's too busy working at the CCG to be in a real relationship. And according to her and probably many other people out there, 2D is better than 3D.

She excitedly pulled the game titled '(Y/N)' out of the nice box and quickly set it up on her computer.

'I hope they don't give me hell for this..'

She watched as the nice loading screen started to load up, and instantly got met with a character who she assumes is (Y/N).

This (Y/N) person stood with their hands behind their back and a soft smile on their face. They seem to be in a school setting too.

"Whoa.." she whispered to herself.

Everything was amazing, and she hasn't even played for that long to think that.

Her eyes started to shine with excitement, and she immediately looked down at the words that popped up at the bottom of the screen.

"What's your name?"

She loudly gasped and quickly put in her name.

"Saiko★... what a pretty name for a pretty girl ;)"

Her cheeks started so heat up, so she made a makeshift fan out of a report she had due two weeks ago and started to hastily fan herself with it.

She clicked at the screen and the picture of (Y/N) changed. It changed to them leaning towards the screen on a desk with their hand on their red tinted cheeks. Two response options popped up on the bottom of the screen and she switched her mouse between the two.

"Your eyes are beautiful!"

"Let's get to know each other :D"

She ended up clicking the second option after a while, since you'd want to get to know someone before starting a relationship with them.

"I already know everything there is about you, love <3"

One month later

Saiko is currently sat in front of her computer, thinking about how much she grew to love (Y/N), regardless if they were real or not.

During that month that went by, (Y/N) started to act more 'human like' if you could say. She'd often remind Saiko that they're only a 2 dimension person, and that Saiko shouldn't love them.

"Saiko, I'm only 2 dimensional. I really want to be with you but I can't."

A single tear fell down from Saiko's eye, but she wiped it up with her sleeve and moved her mouse to pick the only option on the screen.

"I'll find a way, I promise."

The screen changed to (Y/N) pressing her hands flat against and screen and looking deeply into Saiko's watery eyes with their own watery (E/C) ones.

"The only thing left we can do is continue to play this game, Saiko."

Said girl got up out her rolling chair and went to lay on her bed face first and let her tears out completely. And while she wasn't looking, the screen changed again. This time instead of crying, they're smiling.

"Although, I am glad that we were able to meet."

During the times Saiko was asleep, (Y/N) would often go through her saved game slots and see all the times she saved when something great happened, so that if she was going down the road to a bad ending she could just reload a previous game.

(Y/N) really thought that Saiko loved them.

But of course, she can't be with a 2 dimensional character.

As soon as Saiko felt that (Y/N) was starting to get a bit too personal, she decided to take a small break and find something else to do. She thought that a week away from the game was good enough.

The week turned into another month, and she found herself buying a new dating simulator. But little did she know that a certain someone was watching the whole installation process.

But it was inevitable. (Y/N) is only a 2D person, their only purpose is to temporarily entertain you.

Suddenly, Saiko's screen turned black and '(Y/N)'s loading screen popped up, completely stopping the loading for the previous game.

"What the-"

(Y/N) appeared with their hands pressed flat against the screen like last time, but this time they were crying and smiling at Saiko.
"I knew you'd get bored of me.."

Saiko's mouse pointer froze on the screen, so she tried furiously clicking and moving her mouse, but nothing was working for her.

"I'm sorry I dreamed more than I should've, I'm only 2 dimensional :')"

"What? Get off my screen!"

Saiko ended up unplugging her computer and stepping away from it to clear her mind.

"I should've never got that.."

Late at night, Saiko felt someone watching her.

She'd get random chills through her body, and she couldn't sleep facing the wall without having the feeling that something strange was around her.

Oh how right she was.

She felt something cold covering her mouth and soon after, a stinging sensation near her right rib.

She couldn't scream without having her voice muffled, and she certainly couldn't move from all of the pain in her side.

"I didn't lie when I said that I'm glad we met, love."

Who would've known that simply buying and installing a game would turn into this.

I feel good about this since I was inspired from a song I heard, but anyway thank you so much for reading 😁.
