9 : Market
Young Hyun POV
It was Sunday. I was lounging on the couch in the living room, reading while listening to music. I didn't open the shop on Sundays. It was about 10:30. All of my roommates were somewhere else nearby. Sundays were often lazy days for us. After a few minutes, Dowoon spoke up.
"Hyung," he said to me, "yesterday when I was walking back from class I saw you and a girl at the park. Who was she?"
"You saw HIM at the park with a GIRL!?" Jae exclaimed, sitting up. By now everyone was looking at me.
"She was just a client," I said.
"But Dowoon ends class at 5:30, so it would've probably been close to 5:45. You close the shop at 5:30. So why would you be dealing with a client at 5:45?" Sungjin said.
"I was just giving her an order she wasn't able to pick up earlier," I said, slightly annoyed.
"But hyung, couldn't she have just gotten it on Monday?" Wonpil asked.
"She needed it right away, ok? I'm heading out," I said, getting up and heading to the door. I put my shoes on and walked to the nearby convenience store to get something to eat. As I was walking through the isles I accidentally bumped into someone, making them drop their things. I quickly apologized picking up some of the spilled items, handing them to the person.
"You!" the person said. I looked up to see the girl from the bench, a bunch of snacks in her arms. She quickly picked up the rest of the items she had dropped. She was wearing a simple white oversized shirt, simple denim shorts, and converse. Wow, is she adorable. "Oh yeah, thank you for the frame. You really didn't need to get it framed for me," she said, smiling slightly.
"Oh, no it's fine," I replied, a small smile forming on my face.
"Also thanks for helping me pick up my stuff," she said.
"Since we seem to keep bumping into each other, I might as well introduce myself," I said, her smile getting bigger at my pun. "Kang Younghyun, nice to meet you," I told her, bowing slightly.
"Nam Y/N," she said, bowing as best as she could with her arms full of stuff.
"Here, let me help you," I said, taking some of her items and holding on to them. I quickly grabbed an instant ramen off the shelf for myself and walked with her to the register. Y/N was taking out her wallet when I handed the cashier my credit card, paying for everything.
"Younghyun, you didn't have to do that," she exclaimed, putting slightly. "I can pay for things myself you know."
I laughed, patting her on the head. She handed me a $20 bill, which I pushed back towards her. "It's fine Y/N."
I grabbed the bags and started walking out of the store with Y/N. I walked her home, following her lead. On the way we chatted and talked to each other about ourselves. She's a young adult/teen fiction author, who takes art commissions online from time to time. She lives with her two roommates, Yoonhyun and Misun. Yoonhyun's the same age as me, making her the oldest of the 3. Y/N is 24, one year younger than me, the "middle child" like me. Misun is the youngest, 2 years younger than Y/N, making her 22. Misun was still in college, majoring in medicine. Y/N told me that her, Yoonhyun, and Misun had been friends since middle school.
We arrived at Y/N's house soon after leaving the convenience store. I took my instant ramen out of the bags, handing them to Y/N. I said goodbye, and was about to turn to leave when she suddenly called out.
"Wait, Younghyun. Can we exchange numbers?" she asked.
"Sure," I said pulling out my phone, unlocking it, and handing it to Y/N. She handed me her phone and I quickly inputted my number into her contacts. I handed Y/N her phone as she returned mine. I bid her goodbye and walked back to the house. I walked in to see Wonpil and Dowoon playing video games. Sungjin and Jae were probably at work. "I'm back," I called out.
"Where'd you go hyung?" Dowoon asked.
"Convenience store," I said, walking into the kitchen to make my instant ramen.
"Hyung, if you went to the convenience store, it shouldn't have taken that long," Wonpil said, "You couldn't have just gone to the convenience store. Even when it's busy it doesn't take 45 minutes to buy and instant ramen. Where did you really go hyung?"
"I told you, I just went to the convenience store. I ran into some old friends on the way and we talked for a while. That's it," I told them, setting the ramen on the dining room table.
"Sure hyung, sure," Wonpil said, returning to the video game he was playing with Dowoon. I sat down to eat right as I received a text. It was from Y/N:
Nam Y/N: Thanks for walking me home! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
Kang Younghyun: No problem! ( ◠‿◠ )
I quickly replied, smiling. I placed my phone down and started to eat.
