November -
The last two days of the week, Luhan didn't show up. Yumi was worried but she needed to focus on the schools, whether they would accept her or not. The transfer sheet had been completely filled out and she was to turn it in tomorrow.
"Where's Mr.Luhan?" A whiny junior nudged her friend.
Yumi walked past the girls and into the classroom. Taking her regular seat, she waited for the bell to ring.
The principal rushed in with a distressed face. He looked startled as he saw Yumi, waiting. The scheduled chimes rang and students one by one filled the empty seats.
"Yumi-sshi, are you always here this early?" The principal stood in front of the room and called her out.
"Yeah."
"Hm, interesting. Were you, perhaps, close to Mr.Luhan?" The principal tapped his chin.
"No." Yumi lied.
"Alright then. Class, I have an announcement to make." He cleared his throat. "Your teacher, Mr.Luhan, is no longer teaching here. He has decided that this school was not suitable for his ideas so he resigned. Questions about his whereabouts will not be answered."
"What? He left without a goodbye? He's just like my ex-boyfriend! Men are horrible." A girl in the class whispered to another classmate.
People say that Autumn is the season of change but to change, they must feel a slow death to rebirth into something different.
They say that the leaves on the trees change their color and slowly die. They shrivel up and fall to the ground but they know that in the near future, they were going to be rebirth into something marvelous.
And right now, Yumi felt like the dying leaf. She knew that things were going to be alright later, but she couldn't help that she felt pain.
Scanning his desk, she saw a lot of his work was still there. She knew he had to be back and she'll take that chance to, at the very least, say goodbye.
-
Around 6pm, it was already dark. Yumi peered up from her book and saw she was the only one left at study hall. Yumi sighed, the nights came earlier nowadays.
Gathering her things, she rushed to the classroom. Small lights peeked through the slits and little window. Someone was in there, Yumi thought. She picked up speed and knocked at the door.
On the other side stood a pretty boy in a regular tee and sweats. His eyes sleepy and droopy, his hair messy, and his cheeks rosy pink.
"I knew you'd be back." Yumi shut the door behind her.
"And somehow I could say the same for you." He replied, not looking up from his desk. Yumi blushed at his comfortable state. The mood felt different than it usually did. It was warm and sweet.
"Why did you do it?" Yumi stood in front of his desk, slamming her hands down on the piles of paperwork.
"Do what?" Luhan leaned back on his chair and stared at her with lazy eyes.
"Don't be so nonchalant about this. Everyone knows you resigned. Was it because of me? I already told you that I was going to transfer out, you didn't have to quit your job." Yumi's voice gradually became soft.
Luhan snickered and got up. Walking over to the young girl, he stood in front of her. He placed both of his hands on her sides.
"Sometimes we need to sacrifice something for the one we love." Slowly, he leaned forward and brushed his lips against her's.
"Stop, Luhan. You don't know if anyone else is still watc-"
"I'm no longer your teacher anymore, it's okay." Before Yumi could reply, Luhan kissed her - passionately. It was not intense, forced, hard, but smooth, slow, and soft. Pulling away, Luhan held Yumi and took a few seconds to just, admire her.
Luhan brushed away the loose strands of hair from her face, revealing her big brown eyes. Her little nose and perfectly shaped lips stunned him like they always did. Running his hand down her cheeks, he felt how smooth her pale skin was.
"So what happens now?" Yumi asked.
"How about you and I, go back to my place and cuddle?" Luhan smirked and Yumi's eyes were the size of watermelons.
"You're kidding.."
"We'll cuddle for as long as you want." Luhan kissed her nose.
"Okay.. yeah, I'd like that." Yumi's eyes gleamed. Holding her hand, Luhan spun her around, her uniform skirt flaring out.
"You're beautiful. I can't promise you forever, but I can promise you right now."
"And that's all I ever wanted." Yumi smiled and hugged him tightly.
Yumi's true desires weren't lustful, but simply to experience how real love felt. And, she felt it when she was with Luhan.
