Chapter 27

Nash's POV:

"Kacie don't ever call me again! I have a girlfriend!" I spat at the phone.

"But why Nassshhhh?" She whined. I shook my head in disgust and ended the call. I ran to Emily's front door and tried to open it and knocked, but no answered.

I ran my hand through my hair, trying to think of something. Anything.

I suddenly got an idea and jogged to the side of the house. I climbed up the tree beside her house. Memories of the first time I did that came back to me.

This time, I was going to her balcony because I screw up. Bad.

I swung my legs over the railing and saw the open door to her room. I slowly walked inside and saw her laying on her bed, crying...

"Emily I-" I started, touching her shoulder gently.

"Dont touch me!" She interrupted, while sobbing.

"It's not what you think." I tried to explain. She shook her head and didn't remove it from her pillow.

"Let's face it Nash. You've changed.." She whispered.

"Will you just listen to me!!" I shouted. She jumped when she heard my loud voice.

"I was at a party, and I was drunk. But nothing happened. She was just all on me and kissed me a few times. That's it! I loved you then, and I still only love you..!" I explained. She looked up at me, with misery written on her face.

I sat on her bed and scooted closer to her. I wiped her tears away with the tip of my thumb.

" I would never hurt you." I whispered and she laid her head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and she didn't refuse.

"When was that?" She squeaked out after a long period of silence.

"What?" I asked, confusion tracing my words.

"When she kissed you..." She whispered.

"That was last week. Before I asked you out." I replied. She didn't say anything. She just twirled the ring on her finger around and around. I gasped as I realized what ring it was.

*FLASHBACK*

"I bought you something." She whispered. I passed her the Cotten candy and she put a whole bunch of it in her mouth.

"Really? What?" I asked and she brought a small box out from behind her back. Inside it, were two matching rings. One said "Friends" and another said "Forever". A huge smile grew on my face as she put the one that said "Forever" on my finger. I took the one that said "Friends" and put it on her small, nimble finger. She clapped her hands in excitement and wrapped her arms around my neck. She gave me a sloppy kiss on my cheek, and I blushed.

"Promise we're going to be friends forever?" She asked me, her big innocent brown eyes watching me intently.

"Promise." I said and intwined our hands together.

*FLASHBACK OVER*

"Yo-you still have th-that?" I stuttered, pointing to her finger. She looked at me with confusion written on her face.

"Yeah.. Why wouldn't I? She said.

"I just thought...." I trailed, still stricken with awe. She had really remained faithful to her promise.

"What? That I hated you? I would never hate you Nash. It's mentally impossible for me to do that." She whispered.

"I dont know what I would do if you hadn't come into my life." I said, shaking my head.
