That morning he reached the Great Hall before I did. Pansy and I were almost startled to see him there so early. It was if he was overly eager to see what the last day's gift was. Pansy grabbed my hand and dragged me to the table.

We sat, and I grabbed my usual green apple. About twenty-five minutes later the owls dropped off the mail. Harry eagerly, yet still gently, unwrapped the box and read the tag.

Day twelve!
Meet me at the astronomy tower at 12 tonight?

Harry smiles that beautiful smile and nods gently. I take that as an acceptance to my invitation. He then takes the lid off of the box and took out another mason jar. The jar, much like the one with the fireflies, was filled with fairy lights, this one, however, had no charms, no magic. Just fairy lights, and a little picture frame. The picture frame is empty. He can put a picture of his choice in it. He smiles and places it back into the box, and into his bag. He turned to Ron and looked as if he was asking a question.

"Where did I put the picture of Sirius, Remus and me when I was a baby?"
"In your chest under your bed, mate."
"I want to put it in the frame."

I'm at the top of the tower. It's exactly midnight, and I'm waiting for Harry. I don't know how well this will go... It's not like Harry and I are friends... It's not like we're even acquaintances. To be frank I'm pretty sure he hates me... But as I hear the footsteps coming up the stairs and remember that smile... I can't really care. I need him to know...

I watch the starts and I refuse to face away even as the door opens and the footsteps grow closer.
"Draco?" I nod my head and still refuse to turn. He used my first name... That's a start, right?
"Thank you. I loved all of them... No one... No one's ever thought to give me anything half as thoughtful as any of these... Let alone so many..." Arms wrapped around my shoulders and a nose buries itself in my neck. I turn and pull him into my arms.

To think the first person, other than Mum, to hug me is Harry fills my stomach with butterflies. He presses a kiss to my cheek and my heart explodes.

"Aren't you surprised? Mad? I don't know... Something?" He laughs and shakes his head.
"Nope. I've known since the second day. You were the only one going to the owlery so late, and the only one to go to the kitchen for so long after curfew. To begin with... I thought it was a joke... But the swans changed my mind. Even though I thought they may have been a joke I still let myself enjoy them. They were sweet. I loved them all... I love you..."
"W-What?"
"I love you. I think we both have always have. We would pull each other's pigtails to get each other's attention. We were totally crushing on each other." I laugh and pull my head from the beautiful smell of Harry, yet refusing to leave his arms. I meet his eyes and they have this look of understanding and love.

"I swear you should have been Hufflepuff just as much as I was meant to be in Slytherin."
"You were meant to be a Slytherin!" He shakes his head, his hair bouncing in messy ringlets around his eyes.
"That's a story for another time, love."

My heart just melted. Did I fall from the astronomy tower? This is heaven. I fell asleep waiting and I'm dreaming... There is no way in Merlin's green Earth this is real.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Harry."

And then finally we kiss, and all the effort and all the anticipation feels worth it, because not only did I make Harry smile, I finally get to call him my own. Never will I have a better Christmas...
